Really enjoyed our stay here, and staff went well byond the basics in looking after us. Arrived shattered after a much delayed flight, and without bags. Although it was 11pm and well after closing hours in the restaurant, there was no hesitation in providing a meal. The next morning arrangements were being made to take us to the local market... More

We stayed in this hotel while heading to Nairobi after spending a few days in ras ngunwi. We just needed a hotel close to stone town and airport. The hotel needs a major facelift. I suspect this will happen with Marriott taking over. The hotel is very old. Outdated. Terrible shower. Rusty. Moldy. While the grounds well kept-- we ate... More

Having spent 4 weeks in Kenya volunteering what a delight and joy it was to spend a hard earned week of relaxation at Protea. From our arrival the staff couldn't have been more helpful, the meals were great and the relaxing atmosphere lolling on the beach was just what we needed.Having the added bonus to food and drinks while sitting... This was really a well spent time away... perfect beach and staff, food really good, from the moment you walked into the room and see the detail to make you feel welcome, to the flowers on the bed for colour, clean hotel and own secluded beach for yourself. Truly a place that I will recommend to anyone that would like... More

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The rooms were adequate and there was a wonderful balcony with sea view. The restaurant has amazing views over the ocean and you have the beach largely to yourself. Perfect place to relax but is close enough to Stone Town should you want to go on boat trips.

We were a group of 7 that visited Zanzibar for 4 days and stayed at this Protea Hotel. The hotel was clean, the showers had lot's of water (hot and cold) and the restaurant offered good meals. The hotel is located near the airport and near Stone Town, which is also nice. The staff are very friendly and taxis and... More

I stayed at this Protea hotel for a few days after a work trip in Kampala. My room was clean and very nice, and the beach was wonderful. Every morning I had the beach to myself for hours! I took advantage of the kayaks (fun) and also took the free shuttle to Stone Town twice (also really fun). I didn't... More

This hotel is great! admittedly a lot of the people who stay here are just going to chumbe island, as my girlfriend and myself did, but i would have definitely extended my stay here if I had the time. It is an average location in terms of there is not much to do there, but a good location as it... More

There was really nothing I could say that was good about the hotel and my stay. The food is really not great, the rooms needs attention. The bathroom is out dated. Reception's admin is a mess.
