There are a lot of good things to say about this hotel. It is well situated in Stone Town, the food is good, the pool is good, the access to the beach is good. If you are anticipating getting a beer you will be disappointed as it is a dry establishment Room 108 is right next to the pool on... More

The unit we got is away from the hotel complex but centrally located and is within walking distance to all places of interest in Stone Town. It used to be the house of Freddy Mercury so those interested in pop/rock music may have a kick from staying there. It fulfilled all our requirements, with 2 spacious rooms for 4 people... More

Went last summer. Location although central and perfect to be there was very noisy at night. Life starts in the evening in stone town and ends late so if you want to sleep be prepared for lots of talking and socializing outside the hotel. Place was ok. Decor was different. Had a tv in the apt and fridge which was... More

We stayed 4 nights in July 2015. The location, right on the ocean and central to Stone Town is excellent and this hotel has seen some glory days, as the overall layout and especially the downstairs doors (very typical of Stone Town) are excellent. However, that's where the good ends. The staff let the hotel down badly and are simply... More

This was the perfect location and great restaurants in the area. I think its also tthe only hotel you can walk out of your room and step into the ocean. Great staff and funky Zanzibar style rooms. Make sure you order masala chai at sunset.

I have stayed here a few times now in rooms and in an apartment. First the positives: Reasonably priced for its good location. Location is central and on the beach. WiFi is good most of the time, was impressed that I got a signal in their apartment across the road, obviously the best signal is in the main hotel building.... More

The hotel staff are friendly, cozy swimming pool beach and so environment. I couldn't miss a shot out from the hotel environment. Having a glass of refreshment it's away cheaper but teacher in service. I recommend a visit out though the hotel restaurant .

Stayed here 1 night in the bungalow, which is in an other building. No problem, right across the street. Really nice new room, great beds. The pool is nice and big, kids loved this. It is right on the beach, a lot going on which is nice. The restaurant is located on the boulevard next to the beach so great... More

Stayed at Tembo again earlier this month. It's 18 months since I last visited and it still has the same high standards. It's in a good position for touring Stone Town and has lovely views out to sea over the harbour area.

This hotel held much promise but delivered much less. Rooms are badly laid out and not very clean. Beds were ok but the rest looked tired and worn out. The restaurant was probably the worst part of the hotel. It's bug-infested and has mostly Indian food which would normally be okay but it was awful. My sister became sick after... More
