Stayed at the Flamingo for two weeks and really liked it. Excellent breakfast every morning. Great quiet location within easy walking distance of many of the sites and restaurants. Very friendly and social crowd with great staff. Definitely ask to see the rooms before paying. Some are excellent (like those on the top floor), others are ok.

We stayed at the Flamingo for 10 days while diving. Simple but all that you need, especially for a backpacker's transit visit. THe breakfast is unexpectedly good! Especially for the price of 30,000 shillings per night. You won't be disapointed staying here for a good budget choice.

It was the cheapest option in the town. Hotel has great location - close to market, medina, restaurants. Great view from the top of hotel - you can see the whole town from there. Unfortuanely the stuff was rather rude, not very friendly. I would reccomend staying in the hotel just because of price and location. Nothing more.

The hotel was the cheapest in the town - that's why we decided to stay there. But the stuff wasn't neither friendly not helpful. Probably they are spoiled by beeing mentioned in LP guidebooks. Short beds and some moskitos in the room. But the view from the restaurant was really amazing. Especially at night. The best thing is location -... More

Our stay at Flamingo was excellent. The feeling was one of the best. You can start your day on the roof top with a free great breakfast , chatting with your new friends. The quiet sharing bathroom room was clean with comfortable beds, mosquito net, a sink, ceiling fan and desk. We highly recommend this place with his smiling staff.... More

With the Flamingo Guesthouse, there are no suprises; and I like that. there are plenty of place ready to rip you off in Stone Town, but this place is not one of them. You pay 10,000 each and you get a simple, small room with a net, comfy bed and you share the bathroom. Stretch it to 15,000 and you... More

I got about 20 bites from bed bugs in 1 night in room 13. The people at the front desk didn't sound surprised and eventually agreed to let us move rooms (after pretending that there weren't any others free) but they even said that if i'd told them earlier in the day they could have had the room cleaned and... It's a nice hotel with normal clean rooms. You have no shower and toilet in the room, but it's no problem. breakfast was very good and it's near to places where you can go shopping souvenirs and meet local people. they also have a letterbox, but i don't know whether it works. my postcards aren't in germany yet since i... I really liked this places. It is small and basic. Rooms vary from singles to 5 bed rooms and aren't as squashed together as some places. All the beds have nets and rooms have fans. There are communal toilets and showers on each floor. Breakfast is included in the price and is served till 9:30am. It includes simple toast, fruit,... More

The Flamingo Guest House is one of the oldest no-frills guest houses in Stone Town catering mainly for backpackers and other low-budget visitors to Zanzibar. Clean, basic, almost clinical, it is good value for money. It is located in a wide enough (by Zanzibar standards) street called Mkunazini, just behind the old Majestic Cinema, and within walking distance of all... More
