This place is just fabulous! And a lot of that is down to the staff who were just amazing - so friendly and helpful. We had kiswahili lessons off the guy who came to turn our bed at night and cultural lessons from two of the waiting staff - they were just so willing to share with us - it... more

after 2 nights in a fabulous 5 star resort, serena was a bit far off from teh 5 star we came to expect. the rooms were small, the air conditioning not working quite that well, teh last renovation had already been a while and the generally, just not quite the 5 star hotel. teh staff however were VERY friendly and... more

It's probably the best hotel in Stone Town but not the usual Serena standard. If you are going to Zanzibar on vacation, I wouldn't spend more than one night there as there are beautiful beach resorts that are much nicer for the same price. more

I often stay at the Serena in stone town when in Zanzibar on business. It is quite possibly the nicest hotel in stone town and most certainly the best for business travelers. The wireless internet connection, while a little pricey, is excellent. The staff are very friendly and remember your name from one visit to the next. They are happy... more

My husband and I stayed here on our last night in Zanzibar. We had been totally spoilt at the resort we had spent 9 blissfull days at and although beautiful the hotel paled in comparison. It is ideally situated to all the shops and the food market - a must. My husband left his mobile there when we left and... more

We were booked here for a one night stay, in a "Prime Sea View Room". After checking in, we found our room to be rather small, but as it DID have a sea view and a balcony we didn't complain, and went off to explore Stone Town. The next morning, after an excellent breakfast, staff asked whether we were enjoying... more

This Hotel is a very impressive Hotel to arrive at right on the Foreshore in the Stonetown of Zanzibar. It is built in 2 historic old buildings, one which used to be a telecommunications centre and the other an old house. The finished Hotel is a very impressive and opulent place indeed. There is a more relaxed air about the... more

I stayed her for 5 nights and was very impressed with the stunning architecture and the warm welcome from the staff. The food is excellent breakfast, lunch and evening meal. The pool is very clean and quiet with stunning views over the Indian Ocean with Dhows floating past every few moments. Take a walk down to the African bar and... more

My wife & I spent nights here on 14-15 May. Out travel agent in Dar had alerted us to a special deal for two nights, including flights from Dar to Zanzibar, transfers and breakfasts. We thought it was great value, and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Although there were few guests at the time (due to the economic downturn?), there... more
