Serena Hotel, Zanzibar is well located, overlooking the Indian Ocean. It is a heritage property located in the older part of the town. The hotel is well maintained, the staff is nice and courteous and the rooms well appointed. The restaurants are quite nice as well. I enjoyed my stay at the Serena Zanzibar.

Last time I was in Zanzibar, I walked by the Serena (both the road side and the beach side) and told myself that next time I was in Stone Town, this is where I wanted to stay. It did not disappoint. Great pool, lovely traditional style rooms, great breakfast overlooking the water, perfect afternoon tea by the pool, and more!

I guess this is the best choice if you want to stay in Stone Town. we spend 8 nights in Serena Zanzibar and we had a faboulous time. The hotel is in the heart of Stone Town; a walking distance from everything in Stone Town. Staff are very friendly and attentive, food is good, and the pool area is awesome.... More

When we first arrived in Stone Town we walked nearly every narrow street and alleyway of the old town....so many lovely buildings and doors. During these days of wandering we visited the Serena Hotel abd were impressed by the buildings and grounds. We jokeingly enquired about the cost and due to low season was quoted a very good price. So... More

We enjoyed our time at this hotel. We were given the largest suite overlooking the pool area- the honeymoon suite. It had a large outdoor deck, with hammock and chairs. The room had a nice canopy bed. The included breakfast was plentiful and good. We enjoyed the Taarab music / band that played a couple times below our deck. The... More

The Serena has, without doubt, the best possible location in Stone Town. A lovely old building, comfortable rooms (tiny bathrooms), prime rooms have large balconies with chairs and hammocks - worth getting one on upper floors as much better views. The A/C is essential. The whole atmosphere there is one of calm and comfort, friendly but discreet staff, good food... More

Perfect place to pamper yourself after a safari! A real oasis on the ocean front right in the centre of Stone Town. I had a lovely stylish room with wrap around balcony with hammock, pool and ocean view and the service was excellent. Breakfast on the ocean, with plenty of choices and freshly prepared omelettes, pancakes or waffles. Also had... More

This is a wonderful, old-world hotel located on the waterfront in Stone Town. The hotel ambience, views, staff, and amenities are all terrific. Don't miss the rooftop seafood restaurant for a dinner. The food was wonderful, the view spectacular.

We walked in to ask for a rate - hotel was quiet and we were given a twin room with great balcony with amazing sea view for $240. Loved the room and balcony with great sunset views, breakfast was great, staff all pleasant and friendly. Pool area great and suited us as a place to relax after our Kili climb.... More
