We walked in to ask for a rate - hotel was quiet and we were given a twin room with great balcony with amazing sea view for $240. Loved the room and balcony with great sunset views, breakfast was great, staff all pleasant and friendly. Pool area great and suited us as a place to relax after our Kili climb.... More

Our excellent travel agent at Timeless Dream Travels booked this hotel for us after an excellent safari. Serena Zanzibar is an oasis -- the gardens, the rooms, the pool, the art, the furnishings, the view are all eye candy. But the staff really goes above and beyond -- so friendly and caring. One of us was ill from a very... More

I have been to this hotel over 25 times since its opening. I always try other places and I always come back. I love that when you enter the huge main doors you can see sparkling ocean just beyond the main corridor. The reception area for me has a slight scent of polished wood and cloves. I.ve stayed in a luxury... More

If you want to spend a night or more in Stone Town, Serena Zanzibar is a solid choice. Location is excellent as is the service. The food at the seafood restaurant was very good and the breakfasts satisfying (except the "beef bacon"). Remember, no pork products. Swimming off of Stone Town properties is generally not recommended due to pollution and... More

I would definetely recommend the Serena inn. The food, the atmosphere the staff ....look out for suleiman the go to guy on stone towns 411.... The meals are also pretty affordable and the b&b package allows you to explore Zanzibar by day or night and when you are tired try out serenas restaurants. Room service did it for us.

This hotel is on the beach in Zanzibar City, with a beautiful large pool facing the setting sun. The building’s beautiful architecture is reminiscent of the Arab ancestry of the island, with wall decorations and carved wood throughout. Guest rooms seem a bit small because of the large furniture in them, but our balcony overlooking the swimming pool and the... More

This is a pretty classic but also fairly boring luxury hotel. For the price in this part of the world you'd also expect slightly more. Hotel was full of kids and seniors. The location, pool and the view is pretty awesome though. So are the doormen, who offer great service All in all it's a decent place but maybe not... More

The hotel describes itself as "styled to represent the epitome of Swahili style, ethnic elegance and Arabic opulence." Whatever this means, the hotel is absolutely beautiful. Sitting by the pool, dining right above the beach, taking in the incredible ocean views from your room -- trust me, you won't want to leave. That said, please note that you'll want to... More
