We stayed here for one night in June 2015. Our room was beautiful and had a lovely balcony overlooking the sea. The swimming pool was great with plenty of sun beds from which you could also see the sea.

Very warm reception. Nice rooms overlooking the ocean. Would have been 5star but A/C not up to standards. Hot night:(. Nice breakfast and waitstaff. Room 51 is great with a wrap around balcony overlooking ocean and pool.

This is really a first class hotel full of charm, odd little items from a bygone era and a wonderful feel. The hotel upgraded us to a corner room with large balcony and views of the sea and the pool. We enjoyed our time there and it was a blissfully calm place to return to after exploring busy little Stone... More

I stayed in Zanzibar Serena twice, because my work booked it for me. I was not over enthusiastic about it. This hotel was the only good one in Stone town for several years, but has been resting since those days. Charging too much for almost anything: changing prices with the season, overcharging for double occupancy. Grossly overcharging for a taxi-ride... More

A lovely beachside, hotel in the middle of Stonetown, just a picturesque few steps away from the winding alleys and shops and a short walk to the ferry to Dar. (if you do take the ferry, its a nice experience, but book VIP seats $40 in advance. It your destination is central Dar, the ferry is quicker than flying as... More

The hotel has a great feel and the view right out to the beach is fantastic, but the rooms are quite small and everything seems outdated. I had issues with the shower and tv and overall, everything just seemed like it needed to be refurbished. The service was good and the food is okay, but the price is high for... More

New mattress, new linen and pillows required. Hyatt next door will hurt if you don't upgrade. Serena has the better... More

one of my favorite hotels, elegant and nostalgic. very friendly staff, central location, but away from the noise. nice swimming pool with great views. the terrace is nice for sunset drinks or/and a night cap. the restaurant is very nice if you sat next to the windows.
