one of my favorite hotels, elegant and nostalgic. very friendly staff, central location, but away from the noise. nice swimming pool with great views. the terrace is nice for sunset drinks or/and a night cap. the restaurant is very nice if you sat next to the windows.

Stayed 3 nights in this lovely hotel. The property is well appointed with beautiful art work and historical items. The pool area is incredible. SPent a day watching life go by on th esea from our sun loungers. The afternoon-tea served pool-side was fantatstic. We had a tour of stone town and also the spice tour arranged by the hotel. Both... If you are looking to spend a day or two exploring Stone Town and the Spice Plantations, Serena is good but not great. The rooms are ok nothing special- in fact a bit small. The best part is it's a bit away from the hustle of Stone Town and is right on the water so you truly feel the island... More

The Serena in Stone town is a sleepy but pleasant property situated in a perfect location in Stone Town. It's an older hotel, ready for renovations, but still very comfortable. The rooms and bathrooms are small, but the views are spectacular. From this location you are well situated to explore Stone Town by foot and then retire to the Serena... More

We had a lovely room (#37) with a wrap around verandah with hammock and cooling breezes. It's a physically lovely hotel in restored buildings with lots of historical artifacts and furniture scattered about to give a sense of Stone Town's past. The pool is clean and fresh, free breakfasts extensive and tasty, and the waterfront location on a peaceful square,... More

After a safari, it is best to find a good hotel in which to rest up a little before you head home. And this is it. It's not cheap, but it is good value for money. It has really beautiful rooms with good bathrooms and comfy beds, lovely and ever so helpful staff and great facilities. These include a great... More

We recently visited Zanzibar during Easter weekend. We made our base at the Serena Stone town. We highly recommend this hotel if you are going on a short break and was to visit stone town. It is located on the beach; a great view of sunrise and sunset. Mind you the price of everything from rooms to meals and drinks... More

Very good authentic hotel in centre of Stone Town and right on the beach with own swimming pool and terrace over looking the sea, note there is no lift, but it is very Arab in character, look out for Monsoon restaurant nearby in Stone Town a few minutes walk
