This is a no frills, cheap solution if you happen to stay in Stone Town and you are on a tight budget. The rooms are fairly clean, all provided with fans and mosquito nets; toilets also are OK. The only drawback is that rooms are all overlooking the noisy street so it might be difficult to fall asleep. However, this... More

Just 2 days before departure the owner contacted me to let me know we would be staying at another establishment (across the road) because of some structural damage. Granted this did not change my experience much. The rooms with A/C (the only ones I had on the trip were here) are good value but the area is terribly smelly-I dont... More

The best part of the guesthouse is the roof terrace. Sadly, currently, only breakfast is served there, so though you can go up whenever you like, you have to bring your own snacks and drinks. The rooms are reasonable. During my stay, a double self contained room with AC and fan was 40 USD, with a single with fan and... More

I was first offered a single AC room, for $10USD more than a room with just a fan, but the musky smell left from the old unit and lack of actual air, made the fan room (30USD) much more comfortable. The fan room did not have a private bathroom, but I never once encountered another person using the common bathrooms.... More

I stayed here 1 night in january 2013. The position is very close to fish market that starts early in morning; so noises and voices can be heard from your room. My room was on the second floor, not so large but enough for 2 people with small baggages. The price was 55$ per room per day with good breakfast.... More

I spent a night at this hotel some week ago and it was definitely nothing special. The only two things that I will remember it for were: a lot of ants (small ones and probably not not dangerous) and cold water in the shower. As a plus, the staff was very nice and helpful.

After seeing fairly good reviews I opted to stay here and to be honest wasn't that impressed. The price is pretty cheap but that made sense when I found that it is in a somewhat dubious area where even the staff advise not going out after night. The restaurant wasn't open because the chef had gone home by 7pm so... More

Certainly an interesting location with locals living and working all around. Not the flashest of neighbourhoods but it felt perfectly safe and was easy to reach on foot from ferry and Stone Town. Tausi and her staff were most helpful and added a valuable personal touch. We really enjoyed the open roof dining area but were disappointed that only breakfast... More

The Malindi Guesthouse is located slightly off the beaten track, and this is great because you'll be outside of the tourist hub and in a neighborhood where locals live. The food near the hotel is also cheaper and more authentic than in the more touristy areas (go to the Passing Show Hotel Restaurant and also the tandoori chicken stand near... More

Malindi GH is a beautiful old merchants house with more charm than you can shake a stick at... timber beams, little courtyards and extremely tastefully decorated. The only downside is the location - it is right next to the fish market, which seems to start right after morning prayers just before sunrise. The windows are really just slotted pieces of... More
