Stayed here for a couple days and overall had a good experience. Bony the General Manager was great and very helpful. He really was what ensured the stay was a good experience. Would stay here again, but would book the room directly with the hotel/Bony this time, rather than through a website.

The hotel location is great. Their service is also very good - they went out of their way to accommodate all my requests. In particular, the hotel manager was very helpful. They have a trustworthy partner tour office, which offered several activities for me. The breakfast is not as great as other hotels, but with the price I'm paying, I... More

My wife and I recently returned from a 10 day visit to Zanaibar. We stayed at five different hotels/resorts in three different locations, two in Stone Town, two in the north and one luxury stop on the east coast. Of the 5 hotels Al-Minar was the most welcoming and professionaly run establishment. The hotel is very central, in the old... More

We stayed for 3 nights in a twin room at Al Minar in late June, 2014. Overall, it was a very good experience, and we would recommend it. The hotel is an attractive little place and the room was fine - beds with mosquito nets, good bathroom, adequate hot water, free WiFi (I had a job interview via Skype and... More

Our family had a very pleasant stay at the Al-Minar hotel in Stone Town. It was comfortable, centrally located (within walking distance of most attractions) and competively priced compared to other hotels in the area. The room was very clean and the air conditioning was very welcome!. We loved the restaurant setting on the rooftop (semi open air) and the... More

We absolutely loved our stay at the Al-Minar Hotel. The room was beautifully furnished, immaculately maintained and spotlessly clean with everything we could have wanted, including a great shower! The staff were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. They got someone to show us where we could find a restaurant that was still open when we arrived late on... More

The hotel is located almost opposite to the Serena in a convenient location in the heart of stone town. Everything was walkable. The employees were very friendly. The room had air conditioning and was clean. The beds were a little hard but ok. The breakfast on the rooftop was good. The restaurant on the rooftop was good; they had a... More
