This hotel was ideal for us, reasonably priced clean accommodation. It is also in a very good location for exploring stone town. Staff were very friendly and happy to help. We loved exploring stone town and this was a great hotel for our trip

This is an excellent choice for the traveller travelling on a budget. The rooms are large, and mine even had a four post bed in it! The hotel is also located close to the harbour, and is on a quiet side street. Staff are friendly, and felt safe staying here. Recommended.

Great location, affordable, very clean and a nice breakfast with fresh fruit, juice, coffee & tea. Staff was very helpful in making last minute reservations/arrange a private taxi to Ngalawa Beach Village on the East side of the island. Wifi was only available in the common areas, but seating was never a problem. Didn't like the cats in the common... More

The Pearl of Zanzibar is a fantastic budget option. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! First off, the bed was wonderful. We arrived to the Pearl after a long safari, and we absolutely loved the bed. The AC in the room was very much appreciated. Their breakfasts weren't really anything to write home about, but they were filling and all we... More

I spent one glorious night in Stonetown, experiencing the night-life and the daytime shopping. I had a huge room, so big in fact that I could of shared it with another family. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. I had an amazing experience of being escorted by Jackson, the Maasai working at the Pearl, to the Maasai shop. He... More

I recently stayed at The Pearl of Zanzibar for a period of 10 days. I thoroughly read the reviews of the hotel on Trip Advisor so knew what to expect. My stay overall was good. The room although basic, was clean and met my needs. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating during my stay and changed our room when... More

The photographs advertising the hotel are extremely out of date. The hotel is run down and in need of maintenance. The staff are very helpful and kind and try their best to provide a decent service. Sadly they are not backed up by management. Room 8 was assigned to us. We had booked a suite with hotels.com and this was... More

Stayed for 6 nights in July2013. Great location, easy walking to all that Stonetown has to offer. The room was very clean, comfortable bed with mosquito netting, breakfast was cereal, juice, toast/chapati, tea coffee and a fruit plate - more than enough to start the day. Val the manager was more than helpful with suggestions where to eat (as during... More

I have to rate this place based on the price charged. I booked through hotels.com and expected way better. This "pearl" has been in the salt water way too long, literally. The bathroom fixtures are all completely coroded away especially the showerhead and holder which was coroded in half to uselessness. The reason is because the water supply is all... More
