stayed here last year. the internet barely and only sporadically reached my room. it is located outside the scenic Stone Town, next to the main and most sleazy disco in town so there are alot of drunk people wandering by later at night. also there seems to be alot of trucks and shipping going on early in the morning.

The room was larger and more colorful then the photos on the website. I liked the Zanzibarian styled bed and bathroom. Most important, from the moment I arrived until my departure Modest at Rumasia took care of me. Modest helped me find a pharmacy, restaurants (i highly recommend House of Spices) and organize a taxi to the north coast. I... More

For our last night we tried this basic hotel and we were not disappointed. The room is comfortable enough with nice bathroom. Mohamed and his staf are extremely friendly and helpfull. They arranged cheap transport for us when we wanted to go for dinner and also again in the morning to go to the ferry. The only downside for us... More

My friend and I stayed at the Rumaisa hotel on the nights of December 29th and 30th. Overall, the experience was great. This was primarily because of the "bang for your buck" factor. The Rumaisa has great value. The rooms are decent but nothing to complain about (comfortable beds w/ mosquito nets, TV, safety box, coat hangers, small table). The... More

Initially expectations where low, as the location does not look appealling. Its about 15 minutes walk into town, but under 5 minutes away from the ferry terminal (which was why we stayed). We ventured into town most days, and ate locally in the evening when the area really comes alive. The hotel was great value for money, and the staff... More

Thank you to the owner and all the staff at RUMAISA. You and your staff were wonderful and made us (mother and daughter from the USA) feel at home. Their advice on where and what to see was very helpful to learn about Stone Town and the surrounding area, with the arrangement of tour guides and taxi service. The room... More

This is the perfect place to flop down after arriving by ferry. Unfortunately we didn't come or leave by ferry and the location was therefore a bit of a negative for us. The rooms are basic. The beds are not so comfortable and the A/C tries its hardest but is no match for the oppressive heat pushing in from all... More

You can tell this is a family-run place that wants to provide a good service. Mohammed and his son were very welcoming and accommodating and both speak very good English. It is only about a 5-minute walk to Forodhani gardens and 3 minutes to the ferry terminal. The room was very clean with a good shower, fan, safe, TV and... More

My girlfriend and I stayed here 4 nights and are very happy we did. Mohamed the owner, Nelson, Modest, Lucas, Hashim, were all very friendly, helpful, and accomadating. We asked Lucas for a more traditional breakfast and he gladly served it up the next day. Check out Sunset restaurant in Stonetown where Lucas is a chef. He served us up... More

From the moment you arrive, the staff makes you feel very welcome. My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights while in Stone Town. On the map it looks far from the action but it's only a 5 minute walk to the heart of Stone Town and you don't get the noise that everyone complains about staying in town.... More
