Emerson Spice is the best hotel I have ever stayed in: the design is thoughtful and flawless; the food is delicious; and the staff, especially Manager Russell, are perfect. They cannot do enough for you, and made me feel like Katherine Hepburn, after whom my room was designed. I came here for R&R from deployment in South Sudan, and it... More

Don't even think about visiting Zanzibar without overnighting in Stone Town and in Emerson Spice. This quaint boutique hotel transports you through time to 19th century at a very personal level. Our room had a huge private veranda, an excellent spot for really immersing yourself into the beat of Stone Town around you! Excellent service and a nice rooftop restaurant... More

Fantastic rebuild in an old property in Stonetown. Every room is unique and the food served at the rooftop restaurant is just magnificent. Some rooms have a large balcony which is adviceably to try to get a hold of. It can get very hot in Stonetown.

We were only there for dinner. The food was delicious, the best on our trip! They also provided a guide back to the main road so we could find our way back to the hotel. Only complaint was that the meal felt rushed.... Rather sad.

Stayed 2 nights and were blown away by this unique hotel with a fascinating history. The rooms are superb, the staff are amazing and the food and rooftop restaurant are amazing. The hotel is brilliantly managed. It's in the middle of Stone Town's narrow streets so may not suit everybody that is looking for manicured 5* modern hotel style, but... More

Just as pretty as the pictures. We loved our Violetta room, spacious, with a big balcony. The nokia phone in the room was really convenient to get directions around the city. Rooftop restuarant had amazing food. Breakfast in your room is a must!

Silks blowing in the breeze, yellows, blues, ceiling fans gently stir the air, each room unique and decorated according to a dream of Emerson's. Every detail attended to and a gourmet 5 course tasting menu to top it off on the roof top terrace. This is a definite must experience as is the sister hotel, just a 5 minute walk... More

After staying on a resort on the water, we spent a day in Stone Town, and stayed here. Stone Town itself has some long history attached to it. The hotel colors are beautiful and the rooms are amazing ! Vaulted ceilings, stained glass everywhere, velvet, and colors you normally don't see in hotels. The dinner that is served on their... We loved, loved, loved our two night stay at the Emerson Spice Hotel! Russell, the manager, and his staff go out of their way to be friendly, helpful and ensure your every needs are met. Russell walked us to a nearby cafe, gave us great recommendations for things to do and see, and it is obvious that he takes great... More
