Silks blowing in the breeze, yellows, blues, ceiling fans gently stir the air, each room unique and decorated according to a dream of Emerson's. Every detail attended to and a gourmet 5 course tasting menu to top it off on the roof top terrace. This is a definite must experience as is the sister hotel, just a 5 minute walk... More

If you are in Stowntown you have to treat yourself with a dinner on the rooftop of Emerson Spice hotel :) Very good food and quality, good service from Russel and the amazing crew. Charming location and a fabulous view. You feel like you are in the middle of a fairytale from another century. Entering the main entrance and start... More

After staying on a resort on the water, we spent a day in Stone Town, and stayed here. Stone Town itself has some long history attached to it. The hotel colors are beautiful and the rooms are amazing ! Vaulted ceilings, stained glass everywhere, velvet, and colors you normally don't see in hotels. The dinner that is served on their... We loved, loved, loved our two night stay at the Emerson Spice Hotel! Russell, the manager, and his staff go out of their way to be friendly, helpful and ensure your every needs are met. Russell walked us to a nearby cafe, gave us great recommendations for things to do and see, and it is obvious that he takes great... More

We stayed at this hotel from 11 to 13 February 2015, in Belle (the room name), and we had a really lovely time. Everything about our visit here was a pleasure. The rooms are beautiful and have hot running water (the one day when the water failed the manager arranged for us to use a bathroom in the sister hotel,... More

I'm currently living in Zanzibar for ten months whilst working on the north of the island. I brought my friend here to stay for a night in Stonetown when she first arrived for a visit. We stayed in the lamour twin room (my favourite). Staff were excellent, especially the manager Russell, unobtrusive but helpful. The room was stunning. Wonderfully comfortable... More

This hotel is like none other--nothing is standard. But everything is charming--even magical--as can be and each room is unique. The staff take good care of you but are never obtrusive. Each room has a balcony--one room has three!--and reading my book on the sofa while watching the men's shoes accumulate and then dwindle in the mosque opposite made a... More

We stayed one night at Emerson Spice. It had been recommended to us by some friends, and we are glad we followed up on the recommendation. Our room - the Violetta room - was gorgeous! High ceiling, lush interior, nice balcony all around. The roof-top dinner lived up to our high expectations, starting off with a combination of sunset and... More

Emerson spice was an amazing experience, the history of the building that it is located in is really neat.. You are right in the heart of stone town with this hotel, about 3 minute walk to the night market and the same to the spice market. I highly recommend having a guide from the hotel take you through the spice... More

I stayed here for 2 nights on my own. The building is stunning and takes you back in time in a way that's almost impossible in this day and age of mind numbing uniformity in hotels. I wanted to give it 5 stars, but don't think it's up to snuff. On the plus side, the staff was incredible and the... More
