We stayed in Lamour. We were speechless by the impression the room gave. Hotel staff were most hospital and warm. Their attention to detail and their commitment to making our experience an excellent one to remember AND RETURN touched our hearts.

Emerson Spice is without doubt best way to experience Zanzibar - a magical boutique hotel full of charm and character with loads of places to hideaway! Each room is individually and beautifully decorated with beautiful balconies overlooking Stone Town. The staff are friendly, attentive and really helpful. Both restaurants have their own individual appeal - one with stunning views from... More

This hotel is absolutely amazing. Situated in the middle of Stonetown, this is the perfect place to stay. The staff is really helpful and interested in making your stay better than average. Every room in the hotel is unique. We stayed in the room Aida, a family room for 5 persons. Aida is the biggest room, with a wonderful balcony... More

I actually don't think that words or pictures could capture the beauty and hospitality of this very special boutique hotel. My travel partner and I had booked this hotel on recommendation of a friend of his. I had scouted out all the trip-advisor reviews and their website and whatever else I could find on instagram. The pictures of the individually... More

Emerson Spice is a very unique place. As other reviewers have already stated, staying here is part of the experience of visiting Stone Town. Nice, beautiful, quiet. The dinner at the rooftop is delicious. We had to check out in the morning but our flight was late in the evening. Not only were we able to leave our bags in... More

We were initially unsure of what to make of the hotel, as it has no parking lot, so you end up walking through some winding alleys with the bellmen to get to the hotel...but once we saw the rooms...WOW. Each room is unique with a name (not a number) and a story. The stories behind the naming and decor of... More

Our view: This is a conundrum of a place: it is fabulous and stunning with good food and great service, yet has a tired, worn-out glamour about it that could do with a refit. We really enjoyed staying here and it was a great end to our trip. Summary: We visited as a couple in our early 40s in Nov... More

Beautiful room on the second floor - only thing I would change are the strange pillows and height of shower. Excellent service throughout and very helpful (including walking me to nearest forex booth). Arranged for late checkout in an available room. Breakfast was fine but not amazing. Dinner in the roof top restaurant on the final night was wonderful. All... More

Emerson Spice is magical. The rooms are wonderfully renovated and appointed. We would typically choose character over comfort but in this case certainly no need to choose (we stayed in the Camille room). Each is done in such a distinctive and appealing way. Would love to have had the time to enjoy a stay in 3 or 4 of them.... More

Dear Dickm1945, Choosing a room at Emerson Spice can a little tricky, with each Characterful & Comfortable! Camille is certainly the latter: with a Greta Garbo theme- the Protagonist in the 1936 film of the same name starring 'La Garbo'. The Suite is made up of unique Art Deco Colonial Pieces commissioned and made in Zanzibar in the 1930's. With... More
