I love restaurant on the roof, they have very good lunch menu (I tasted king prawns - omg - fantastic!), also desserts are very very good. Manager is very friendly. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Stonetown is very magic.

and this was a great way to finish off our 3 week trip. Good location for wandering around town and eating out. Colette and Norbert are justifiably proud of the huge renovation they have done to this old palace to transform it into a very comfortable hotel. Their concern for the guests is evident and a very personal touch these... More

The Mashariki Palace Hotel was once a palace for the Sultan of Zanzibar and may lack some of the amenities of other hotels (lifts and pool for example) but the location and size of the rooms make up for it. I arrived late in the evening and the hotel restaurant had already closed (as had many of the area restaurants).... More

This hotel is all about Carlotta and Norbert. There is nothing they will not do to make you smile. Amazing attitude. But then there is only so much anyone can do if it is unbearably hot (Christmas time in Zanzibar..a BIG NO!) and you have an elder( my mother) who had difficulty negotiating stairs..and there were plenty of them!!!!

This is a truly fabulous place to stay. Our hosts Carlotta and Norbert were attentive hosts. All meals were delicious, organisation of our tours were very well done. Our room with a view over the Indian Ocean was excellent. The entire staff were superb, and could not do enough to help. We believe service is an important part of any... More

the hotel is very nice, but not suitable for kids, since there are too many stairs and no pool to relax. The manager was very nice and helpful. The breakfast was horrible, from the food to the service, really bad.

It's big. It's cool. The rooms are nice. Especially the highest upper floor. Great dinner occasions on practically every floor. A must visit, definitely once. Try to see it while you can, for the atmosphere in Africa is starting to get tense.

We were at Mashariki from 23rd to 27th Dec. 2015. Our stay was very comfortable. Nobert and his wife went out of their way to make sure that we had all that we need. Our daughter needed to see doctor, which they arranged for and even sent their staff to accompany us. The hotel is beautiful and very well located... More
