I umm-ed and ahh-ed over the Tripadvisor reviews of a number of excellently-run independent hotels in Stone Town before choosing Kisiwa House for its balance of character and amenities at its price point. If this is your first time in Stone Town, it would be best to ask the hotel to arrange for a (very reasonably priced) driver to collect... More

We were booked by our tour operator stay at Kisiwa House in Stonetown on our last night in Zanzibar. We were reluctant to leave our beachside resort, but so glad we did. Kisiwa House is an historic mansion converted into an elegant boutique hotel in which the owners have preserved the architecture, decoration and some artifacts of its era. Compared... More

We spent two nights here after returning from a few nights on the North coast, having concluded a safari with Intrepid. As nice as the beach stay was, this was by far the stay that stands out the most and our only regret is that we didn't have more nights at this particular hotel - this was our second stay... More

We enjoyed our 2 nights at Kisiwa, mostly due to the kind people working there. They were warm and friendly, and happy to help us in anyway they could. The hotel is interesting architecturally and beautifully decorated. The room was comfortable. Breakfast was nice too!

We spent three nights in the Kisiwa House and thoroughly enjoyed it. The entire hotel and the rooms are beautifully decorated. We stayed in the Burdani room for the first two nights, which was a smaller room on the 1st floor before we moved to the Sulaima Suite. What an experience! It is a huge room and so nice that... The best thing about this hotel is the beautiful, spacious, tastefully decorated rooms. Great location. Very friendly staff. AC works perfectly. We’d recommend the rooms above ground floor, since the surrounding alleys can get a bit noisy. The breakfast was delicious. We had dinner at the rooftop restaurant too one night, and it was also great. The only drawbacks are... More

Stayed at this hotel and was pleasantly impressed. It was clean and unique. The staff are friendly and very "rafiki." Would stay here again and recommend to anybody planning to visit zanzibar/stone town. The rooms are spacious and close to the city center. The hotel rooftop is cozy and has a nice view of the city. Love it!

I highly recommend this hotel. My family and I spent 2 nights at the hotel and we loved it! The staff was very friendly and professional, the room was lovely and spacious and the service was superb! In our next trip to Zanzibar we will definitely stay at Kisiwa.

We stayed for a couple of nights while visiting Stone Town and really enjoyed the location and the history of the house. Room was quiet and comfortable and had great rooftop views over the city - we really felt like we were in Zanzibar! Staff was helpful and polite. Rooftop dining room was wonderful for breakfast and dinner. We would... More

We stayed at Kisiwa House on our way to Matemwe on the North East Coast. It is a hotel in that was formerly the residence of a Sultana. We were on the third floor in an enormous room with closed shutters. If we opened the shutters it negated the effect of the A/C. As a result one was either hot... More
