Nice place. Rooftop terrace is pleasant. Room is a bit hot (remains hot at night even when it's cooling down outside!). Tastefully decorated rounds. Good value for money. Nice staff, helpful. Location is perfect - in the heart of Stone Town.

The staff at the Kiponda B&B are very friendly and helpful. It is centrally located and a stone throw away from the pier, museums, alley ways, and Forodhani park, which at dusk converts into a wonderful food court where you can eat fresh fish, sugar cane juice and watch the beautiful people of Tanzania, particularly families snacking away. My en-suite... More

I've stayed here several times and it used to be my 'go-to' hotel in Stone Town. It's centrally located, close to the ferry and to Ngoma Kongwe (good for Sauti za Busara festival) and Forodhani and all that. But it's still on the edge of Stone Town so you can still find it after a couple of beers. The breakfast... More

We stayed at Kiponda as part of an Intrepid tour and were very happy with their choice. The hotel is clean, close to the beach, shops, bars and restaurants. Our room was on the top floor and had a nice breeze when the window was open. We had a private bathroom and a very comfortable bed with a mosquito net.... More

This little hotel nestled into the winding old streets of Stone Town is perfect for a weekend getaway, or even just a stopover after flying into Zanzibar. It's clean and offers a great breakfast on the roof top terrace, with free wifi. Perfectly located, only a 5 min walk into town. Safe and comfortable- will stay again!

The staff here really make this hotel the best place I have stayed. The rooms are comfortable and have everything you need. The staff went out of there way to ensure your comfort. Even when they were fully booked for one of the nights I wanted to stay they arranged for me to stay in another local hotel which they... More

We only stayed here for 1 night before we left for the beach. We slept in a nice room with a fan and private bathroom (with hot water), but look out for mosquitos, there were some flying around. There is a restaurant on the roof with nice view. We left our baggage at the reception after we checked out (we... More

I stayed at Hotel Kiponda for 3 nights. The location was great, very close to the ferry as well as the main attractions in Zanzibar. The rooftop is a night spot for breakfast and has good wifi access, however, there is no food or drinks (not even water) for sale or available except for at breakfast time. Mercury's is a... More

Five minutes walk from the ferry and very near the beach and its wonderful view of what is picture-book Zanzibar. One of the best places to start roaming the alleys stone town. Simple and good accommodation with good service and helpful staff.

I spent 4 nights at the Hotel Kiponda and agree with the many good reviews found here - basic rooms, but super clean with a tasty, filling breakfast and friendly staff. This former home has been tastefully renovated in a simple, yet stylish manner. Luckily my cellphone has a torch as finding my way back from Forodhani Gardens late at... More
