This sister camp of Lake Manze Camp was my second stop in East Africa last Nov. Both camps shared similar layout and the tents same configuration. Mdonya Old River Camp in Ruaha is smaller and more intimate and casual. The facilities and tents may be basic but you have everything you need for a more than comfortable stay and I... More

This place made our trip. I am really happy that E-Trip Africa had a special offer that allowed us to go see Ruaha. My wife wanted to see wild dogs and I did not think that Ruaha would be that great as not many people go there. But the price was tempting so we went. Mdonya Camp was fantastic. The... More

A fantastic experience in a wonderfully managed camp. Facilities are beyond expectations - showering watching elephants is a memorable experience. And the food????? AMAZING - putting many 5* hotels to shame. The tour guides and activities were also amazing. A major part of a holiday of a life time!

We came here after spending 3 nights in Lake Manze, Selous, which is the sister camp. The tents here are similar with plumber flushing loos and hot solar powered showers. They are spacious, look out to wildlife from the verandas, kept very clean and the camp food is very good. We went in mid-January, when the grasses were about a... More

Visited the Camp in the “Little Rains” season (December 2012) which we were told had come late this year. During our six nights at the camp we had plenty of rain and watched the parched land turn green before our eyes. Excellent guide and driver (Zac and Chele) with good sightings including Lion, Leopard and Cheetah. Interesting time to visit... More

We booked via a local travel agent in Dar who, now with hindsight, knew very little about this camp. But what an experience! Nothing was any trouble for any members of staff, they were friendly, hospitable, knowledgeable and wanted to make sure our expectations were fulfilled before we departed. The guides knew the signs of where to look for the... More

As we flew into the airstrip in Ruaha National Park, I was excited to see a giraffe and a small herd of elephants below us. Little did I know that that was the tip of the iceberg here. Our guide and driver were excellent. Within three hours of landing, we had been about 6 feet from a cheetah, stared down... More

The true safari in the wild. We stayed in a tented camp which wasn't protected by any fencing. That gave us an extra adrenaline on our 'bush' adventure. Loved how the place is organized: basic, comfortable large tents with a shower and bathroom. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. As for Ruaha National Park - it is one of a kind with... More

Such a magical, amazing place (not to mention the most luxury we had during our three week holiday on Zanzibar!) Despite its luxuries and amazing breakfasts and candlelit dinner by the fire Mdonya Old River Camp blends seamlessly into the nationalpark, allowing the animals complete freedom whilst also making you feel safe. A truly awe inspiring place, definately recommended, and... More
