We loved every minute at this wonderful camp; when you first arrive you are greeted by Mary, Marco and a friendly helper with a welcome glass of orange. At first it all seems happily amateur but you soon learn that a very professional teams runs Mdonya without anyone else seeing the "wheels go round". The setting is glorious, the food... More

the header says everything. Thank's soo much to all of you in the camp for the wonderful time I experienced in your camp. I can only recommend the camp for everyone who wants quite a close bush experience. Probably not for the faint hearted. Beware of Italian nights, since these guys might be heard up to Daressalam :-)

We stayed at this camp in Ruaha after having stayed in it's linked camp in Selous. It was very similar so we knew what to expect. Our tent (number 6) was clean and comfortable and we often saw Impala, monkeys, and elephants strolling past and hear the hippos in the night. Waiting staff were particularly friendly and attentive and the... More

Why? Here's a fine illustration. Our driver and a guide pick a few of us up at the airport and we head over to the park. I have covered myself with my Coleman 100% DEET. When the tsetse flies come, they come in droves. Avoided me completely: bare arms and legs, face, not a bite. However, they did swarm, annoy,... More

We stayed at Mdonya Old River Camp in September 2013 for 2 nights. This was the 3rd of 4 camps we stayed at on our 14 night safari in north and south Tanzania. This was our 2nd safari holiday (18 nights/5 camps) in Africa and the 2nd camp we visited in Ruaha National Park. The guiding was just ok, the... More

This charming camp tries to give a flavor of the way camps were many years ago: no electric lights but hurricane lamps and candles plus a torch; sand paths to the sitting and dining areas which under an open tent roof; open air dining at night, drinks around a fire. Game wander near in and around the camp so Masai... More

I had visited this camp 6 years ago, returned and was not disappointed. The lions roaring at night was the highlight of the safari as were the cheeta and leopard sightings. This camp has everything, great food, personal attention, great guides and abundant animals. Weather in September was warm and dry. Sightings of animals while sitting on the veranda of... More

We truly loved our time in Ruaha! Maria and Marco were great hosts and the surroundings did the rest. Fadhili and Ayubu big thank you for all your efforts. On our last night, we were woken up at 4am by roaring lions.. I think they just wanted to say 'Farewell Friends'. Would definitely plan to go back one day.
