The last half of my trip landed me at the Ruaha river lodge. My first four days were in Selous at the Rufiji river camp. I was expecting the lodging to be similar. I was wrong in a good way. The huts were very spacious. The bathroom was enormous. The rooms had a combination lock on them, and there was... more

we had very good game drive because of the driver Danzi and the ranger Meshak. He just spots every thing and they seem to still have fun doing their job. we had a very good stay at the ruaha river lodge and met very nice other travellers. the Bandas was very roomy with good location over the river. We thought... more

A great setting on the river and some excellent game drives, but the bandas seemed a little past their best and the communal areas soulless. The management somehow failed to create that particular safari atmosphere. Foxes at Katavi is much better in this respect. more

We stayed here for 10 nights in September 2008. The views from our Banda were unbelievable. We were in the last Banda away from the dining room and very remote from the main part of the camp. Every day we could sit on the deck and watch elephants graze only a few feet away. The elephants were often all around... more

Great staff and location, The guides were brilliant Jacob and David, really made the trip outstanding. The lodges are all set along the river and you can see the hippos. The food was good but the service and guiding is what sets this place apart. more

We spent four nights at Ruaha River Lodge in June of 2009. We’ve traveled extensively and have been to every continent except Antarctica and this was probably the greatest view from a front porch that we have ever had. The Ruaha River runs right by the front of the bandas and you are treated to a spectacle of hippos, crocodiles,... more

We stayed only 3 nights at Ruaha River Lodge, the main goal of our stay was to see the sable and roan antelopes - unfortunately we didn't succeed, during the game drives we couldn't cross the river because of the mud - but anyway, Ruaha is a beautiful park and the lodge is great - as for location, staff, everything.... more

Ruaha river lodge is an excellent safari location. We stayed there for 5 nights prior to moving to Selous Safari Camp. In many ways the descriptions on the website etc. do not do it justice. Whilst it is a large camp, it is in effect 2 separate camps i.e. those who fly in like we did stay in the lower... more

We stayed in several of the Foxes safari lodges on an Explore Holiday and liked this one the best . You can sit on your veranda and watch the wildlife come down to the water . You lie awake at night and listen to the hippos coming out of the water to feed - we heard them very close by... more

My family and I spent a fabulous three nights and four days at Ruaha River Lodge (21-24 July 08). The whole experience was wonderfully awe-inspiring; from the flight into Ruaha on a light bush plane to the game and scenery, to the lodge itself. It is hard to describe in words and yet at the same time do justice to... more
