We went to have coffee at Oxbow before heading down the snow covered mountains. But coffee changed into port and port suddenly changed to a shooter when conditions worsened! The fireplace was amazing to sit around!

.....thats what this place has. The drive from Hlotse was breathtaking, just short of being scary, which all added to the adventure of getting to Oxbow Lodge. Steep hills, sharp bends and trucks so keep your eyes open & your car needs to be mechanically sound. If ur looking for luxury this won't be the place for you but if... More

We undertook a two day adventure and mountain biking trip across the mountains of Lesotho. Oxbow lodge was our stop over. When travelling in Lesotho one should expect rustic and basic accommodation. It is a poor country with limited resources. Being located off the beaten track means that Oxbow does not often attract visitors with bulging wallets. If you are... More

TA the Oxbow lodge What an absolute disappointment! “Run down and broken” about sums it up. When making the reservation via email we were offered a rate which pretty much spelled out “basic”. We were ready for basic – but not ready for what we were faced with. Plus – upon checking in we saw that the rate we had... More

Our crew consisted of 2 couples and an 11-month old baby boy. The booking process was easy, friendly and efficient. We all loved the rustic, cosy and friendly lodge. The staff were excellent: helpful and friendly (especially to the little one). The rooms are great. We were warm all night and it was minus 10 outside! The gas heaters were... More

We were a group of 20 adults and two kids. As you drive into Oxbow you get the "Switserland" experience. Nice and cosy!!! The receptionist and staff was friendly and our room allocation 100%. Yes I need to admit that the rooms are old, specially the bathrooms but everything was clean and tidy. We must remember that this is Lesotho... More

This is a horrible hotel to review as the actual experience is beyond basic but given the location there isn't much choice and the staff could not be more helpful so you feel positively guilty saying bad things. So, the details: - the gas heaters are old, often don't work and are quite frankly dangerous - the night guard was... More

We stayed at the lodge for 2 nights in early August 2014. Overall, an excellent stay. The place is rustic with no flashy bells and whistles. Maybe Maseru will have something if you want heated towel rails and pan pipes playing in the breakfast hall. The booking process was a breeze through their Ficksburg office and all the paperwork and... More

If you are not going in "high"skiing season July - dont bother! This is the worst room and food I have ever experienced. We stayed for one night (one too many) in October 2013 - on our way from Sani Pass to Clarens - What a disaster, would have been better off sleeping in the car at the side of... More

We stayed at the lodge for 4 evenings in Jul 2013. Didnt expect much after reading all the other reviews. If you are not expecting royal treatment and 5 star facilities you will be fine. The rooms were neat and tidy, enough blankets and a gas heater to help with the cold. The lounge and bar area is warm and... More
