I ended up at the Waterloo Motel only because all other accommodation in the Geneva / Waterloo NY area that takes dogs was booked for the large, annual dog show at Romulus at the end of Sept. I usually stay at the Chanticleer Inn in Geneva (which I consider to be another dump but the Waterloo Motel makes it look like a palace.) I needed a place that accepted dogs because I was going to the dog show so the choices were very few at that point. I telephoned the Motel & they said they took dogs although when I arrived, there was a large sign at the front desk that said, NO PETS. (Everyone in this area takes dogs on that weekend because they know they can make a fortune and at this time of year, they would otherwise be empty.

I've occasionally stayed in motels before & know that they aren't as well appointed as hotels. But you usually don't expect to pay $75 nite for a grunge motel. This one was grotty. The exterior door of the room looked like it had been kicked in many... more
