Drove 8 hours to dakhal oasis, though there are flights to Kharfa, one hour away from dakhla. The road in asphalte was very comfortable, with places to stop, for a drink ,a cigarette and to go to the loo. The scenery on the way was picturesque i was so stunned by it that the 8 hours passed whilst i was still admiring the shapes... More

I´m so glad that I had the chance to spend one night at the Al Tarfa Sanctuary Lodge. We also had the privilege to have the whole lodge to ourselves. This place is amazingly beautiful and retains all the natural architecture of the area but still has all the comforts of a beautiful five star hotel. After a long and... More

After a desert safari we spent one night at the Al Tarfa Lodge. Wow what a beautiful place. The staff were all so friendly and the rooms were fantastic. We had dinner and the food was excellent as well as breakfast. There is wifi throughout the lodge which works perfectly. The Pool was so beautiful. I would certainly recommend the... More

The best place I've been into so far in Egyptian deserts. "I travelled with a lovely group. In-spite of some warnings, considering Egypt's present situation, the trip was very safe with many comforting police check points along the road. We were personally welcomed by the owner, Mr. Wael Abed, a very well read gentleman who is an expert on Egypt's... More

I have read about Al Tarfa Lodge in one of the magazines and it did leave an impression and since then i always wanted to go. Luckily, I was able to go with friends and I have to say that the place was a breathtaking! Nevertheless, the hospitality of the staff and the owner was remarkable and did set a... More

Al Tarfa has been on the top of my list of places to visit for years. The journey there is an adventure flying with Petroleum Air Services flight from Cairo to El Kharga in a Dash 8 aircraft which takes 90 minutes. We were met and transferred 180km across the desert to Dakhla Oasis. The journey is fast with check... More

The revolution that broke out in Egypt earlier last year didn't prevent us from proceeding with our plan: a honeymoon in the Sahara:)) We were brought into the check-in salon upon arrival and were handed a glass of champagne while we learned about the hotel and the surrounding area. The native young lady checking us in, walla, was very friendly... More

I beg to differ kay97, the trip i went on was in the summer of 2010. I traveled with one friend. The trip wasn't that bad considering it was only a two hour drive from the nearest airport. The staff which is still the same staff i presume, were one of the nicest group of people i had ever met.... More

Our family stayed at Al Tarfa Desert Sanctuary for three nights in October 2011. We were very much looking forward to a stay in the Sahara desert. The lodge looks very nice on the internet and gets good Reviews. Given the extremely high prices they charge for a stay we expected something like a high-end safari lodge in the desert.... More
