A friendly stay. Michael and Tom at the bar were excellent (could have used more Bombay Sapphire and white creme de menthe though). Tina, Louis, Rene, and Ken were helpful at the front desk. Melissa was very helpful in the breakfast area, making sure all guests were served and ample supplies were available. Efficient at cleaning and maintaining tables. Should... More

A repeat visit found the same courtesy from staff, really nice room and decent breakfast. The best part is that they are pet friendly. I don't mind the extra pet charge of $20-25. Breakfast is serve yourself, buffet style, hot scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage patties/links, grits, DIY waffle station and cold cereal and more. Clean room and bathroom. Comfy linens,... More

We were genuinely surprised by Hotel Utica. We were looking for a place that was reasonably priced yet still comfortable and on these accounts Hotel Utica delivered. The free parking was great and the staff was very friendly upon check-in. When we got to our room we discovered it was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable. It is... More

Very nice old stately hotel in downtown Utica, free parking, a nice simple free breakfast. I was impressed with this hotel. The room was larger than most and well appointed. I will definitely stay again.

The Hotel Utica has seen better days. It used to be a grand affair but not so much now. The good news...great location. Downtown Utica is pretty quiet but the hotel is within walking distance of some good restaurants! The parking is free. There was internet. We booked a king room which included breakfast. The room decor was rundown but... More

I was looking for lodging in Utica while on a bike tour of the Erie Canal. I chose Hotel Utica because most of the nearby second or third tier chain motels were more expensive. It turned out that its attractions were more than history and nostalgia. The rooms were enormous and very modern. There was plenty of room to store... More

Part of the issue with this hotel is Utica. The hotel is in a bit of a no-man's land surrounded by parking lots and bad industrial buildings. Unfortunately, that describes much of Utica where there's not a really cohesively restored section of the downtown. Part of the problem is that the hotel doesn't have the cash to do justice to... I am a Platinum Choice hotel member which means I stay in over 20 hotels per year for Choice hotels and it is more like 30 hotels/year. All hotels are for pleasure trips only. The Hotel Utica is a great old hotel with an interesting history. I would recommend staying there. Positive: late breakfast time, relax and take your time... More

I really love classic, historic hotels. Have stayed in 5 or 6 over the last 20 years. This hotel is in the process of updating and it could be stunning if done well. They do, however, have a ways to go. Staff is friendly and willing to do whatever you need. The lobby will be gorgeous when updated. It is... More

There are two hotels you can stay at in downtown Utica, and this is the one with character. It's the city's old grand hotel, being reinvented as a boutique hotel, marketed for its character. There's an enormous, ornate lobby, somewhat underutilized, a bar that by all rights should be more active and later into the night than I found it,... More
