...and working to be better.(If there was a 3 1/2 star rating, that would be appropriate.) The room was large, the bed comfortable, and the grand lobby is very nice but needs to be filled in with more period (1920s-30s) furniture. They have strived to maintain the hotel's historic ambience and are doing a fairly good job of it. It's... More

I'm sure back in the day, it must have been THE place to stay in Utica. but like the town, that day was a loooong time ago. No longer grand, it has good bones, but it needs a face lift. that said, the breakfast was great. the city though, uggh.

Thank you to the people who made the decision to revamp this old hotel! It is magnificent. The lobby area is breathtaking! I was just passing through for one night and was using my Choice Hotel points for a free night. Check in was not easy..the workers did not even know how to check me in using my free points!... More

It's hard to miss the Hotel Utica when you drive into the heart of the city. It is one of the tallest buildings around and the huge roof top sign serves as a beacon at night. The century old building still exudes some of it's original charm and grandeur - the hotel lobby is massive with huge chandeliers, a soaring... More

Overall a nice stay. On par with a 3 star rating. Clean bathroom and beds; customary amenities in room (soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, coffee, tea). I would give it a 2.5 because of the shower and breakfast area not having cleaned off tables. Check - in: Very friendly and helpful. We asked for some suggestions for dinner and both recommendations... More

I would really like to tell you that this is a great hotel, but the best I can do is tell you that this hotel has amazing possibilities. It was rated very well on Trip Advisor but if this is the second best hotel in Utica I would hate to see the rest. The hotel is obviously long past her... More

Stayed two nights for a convention and was quite pleased. Large Room was clean and nicely updated, bed was new and very comfortable. The old girl shows her age here and there but all in all they have done a very good job on the renovation. Room service leaves a bit to be desired and I would advise passing on... More

Like everyone else here, I found this hotel to be impressive but in need of updating. It was also pretty underutilized, but in their defense I was there on a Tuesday night. There are also three pay phones in the lobby. You read that correctly. Three pay phones! Mounted in the wall with coin slots! I have no idea what... More

I didn't really know what to expect because the reviews on here were mixed, however, we had a really nice stay. The lobby is pretty and I can only imagine what it used to look like back in it's hay-day. It does need a little help because it is aging (the lobby) but honestly, the rooms are clean, the bathrooms... More

We made reservations at The Hotel Utica in order to be close to a music festival in the area. We were not sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised. It is a very beautifully renovated grand hotel- high ceilings with impressive chandeliers, beautiful mosaic floors, grand stairways. Our room was spacious and very clean. Even the pull out couch...
