I was in Utica for work (I don't know why else you would be in Utica...) and this was not my type of hotel. There is a difference between "historic" and "dilapidated". It is in serious need of renovation- the rooms are so dark (half of my room seriously had not even a lamp), the beds are flimsy, the furniture... More

Our family booked two rooms at the Hotel Utica this past October around Columbus Day. We decided we couldn’t get more centrally located for what we wanted to do during our visit than by staying in the downtown Utica area. There was a more modern motel-like choice and a nostalgic choice. We went with the latter--Hotel Utica. It was a... More

I was looking for a good historic hotel on the way from Vermont to Buffalo and found it here. It's obvious the property has undergone a tremendous renovation, and they did a good job. I enjoyed a delicious dinner there and great service. I must say while the breakfast was adequate with many choices... I did not see a breakfast... More

When staying in the hotel I thought that for appreciating the glandour of the hotel I should have been there 60 years ago. It looks like it stoped developing then and no adaptations to the modern era were done. All is big. The loby is like a ballroom you see in the moovies. The rooms are huge and comfortable. The... This was the second time our group of train enthusiasts have stayed here. They have completely renovated all of the rooms and they are beautifully done. We filled 29 of their rooms and the whole event from the original booking through our stay was efficiently handled by their sales staff. The lobby is elegant, the staff was courteous, breakfast was... More

The other reviews hit the mark: this grand old line hotel is in need of some work. The physical plant is indeed grand in the manner of ages gone by, but the dining experience, limited to breakfast, was pretty bad. While I can appreciate the cost savings of buffet, that path leads to scrambled eggs that have cooled and solidified.... More

We arrived fairly late as part of a group of 6 travelling on business. With an early morning meeting I went straight to bed before realizing that there was no heat in my room, and no extra blankets, so I slept with my coat over my bed and pillows on my feet to keep warm. If I'd know I might... More

I stayed here for my college homecoming weekend and it was like walking back in time. The room decor was horrible. It was a journey back in time. I get that it's a historic hotel, but the fat back televisions, wall paper and old style comforters are ridiculous. The hotel has potential and needs better decor. It really needs an... More

Ask yourself why? But if you need to stay over night the Hotel Utica will suit your needs for a bed and a clean room. I was in a queen-bed room, it was a good size, clean and had heat/ac and full size bathroom. Nothing exceptional but nothing awful either. The reception desk was very nice and helpful with my... The Utica Hotel in Utica, New York, was a grand hotel back in it's "Hay Day". However, today the hotel is a bit distressed and in need of TLC. It was difficult to find the front door. After driving around the entire block, we finally stopped on the street and hoped the stairs lead to the front desk. We were... More
