My partner and I had the best time here. Beyond the stunning location, the family that runs this B&B are so hospitable and wonderful. Sometimes overlooked when shopping for B&Bs, I have to say that the "breakfast" part of the "Bed and Breakfast" was always very delicious. We used the on-site bikes to ride to the beach (~10 min), and... More

I will start this off by saying that B&B is not my thing. I have now visited two in my life and I would prefer a hotel. This place did not sway me to consider other B&B's in the future, even though the people running it were very friendly. The house is well hidden. It is difficult to find at... More

Nice location in a forested neighbourhood close to Southold with access to a local beach facing Shelter Island. The B&B is highly decorated (like your grandma's house) with many fragile objects. We definitely did not feel comfortable with a 6 year old in the house. Also, there are 2 miniature horses which wander freely in the back yard. Very friendly... More

Me and my fiancée had a weekend getaway from the always busy always loud midtown and wow was "the walk in the woods" just what we needed. A beautiful house with scenic surroundings and perfect decor and we were made to feel very welcome by the owners. From the little deer grazing on the front lawn to the perfect breakfast... More

Stayed here for a few days in August. It's set back in the woods off of the main road, and shares a common access road with a few other houses. To find it, keep an eye on the mail boxes on the east side of the road and watch for their house number, and take the access road that leads... More

It is a lovely house in the woods, very quiet. The rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast is very appropriate. It is very close to vineyards and the charming towns of Southold and Greenport. Would highly recommend this B & B and its location.

The property is a little hard to find but when you get there you are in for a real treat! The house and gardens are beautiful and Flo couldn't have been more helpful. She made us feel right at home from the minute we arrived. We would thoroughly recommend it as somewhere to stay if you are looking for a... More

I never got the chance to stay at this property, although it does look lovely! I called to make a reservation four months in advance for a wedding. I gave Flo my credit card number, assuming that she would keep it on file until our stay to hold the rooms. Instead, she charged me the full cost of the stay,... More

I took my husband here for a surprise birthday weekend. Flo was absolutely generous in her recommendations for ideas for the weekend. Also, it is almost like having your own home. The grounds are perfectly manicured, the front porch delightful. The house is huge. We stayed in the Victorian Suite which is tremendous in size and felt like we were... More

My sweet husband took me away for the weekend for a get-a-way to the NorthForth wineries. We had a fantastic trip. Mark spoke to Flo the owner of A Walk in the Woods and explained he wanted to surprise me my birthday. She is an amazing person and very kind. Her home is extremely clean and very welcoming. Her rooms... More
