Probably the worst hotel experience I've had in my life to being with. Come on...if the waiter is screwing you with $10 water, can it get any worse? OK, so I write my note after getting thieved and the new manager (son of the old owner) calls me a few months later. Great. Nice guy. Wants to turn things around..blah.blah.... More

Shelter island is a quiet place with not many activities. The Sunset beach in is located on a nice stretch of beach but don't expect soft sand. Like most long island north beaches it is very rocky. The sunset beach is on the high end price wise including the restaurant.

I own a b&b nearby to Sunset Beach and it's a favorite for my guests to enjoy a glass of Rosé or a perfectly executed cocktail while watching the sunset! Sunset Beach offers a touch of the "Hamptons experience", too. For socializing and night life (dancing til the wee hours with a well known DJ) or enjoying a quick break... More

Bit boring, bit average, staff really up themselves, cheap "minimal" decor. The space to sit near the beach is on a busy part of road, so if traffic fumes are your thing its perfect. The yellow-tacky plastic-everything makes it look a little theme park-esque and don't even try to eat food when its warm, wasp swarms ALL over the bar,... More

My husband made reservations for dinner on 8/28/14, as we were celebrating our Wedding Anniversary, and he requested a table upstairs. On the day of the reservation he got a call confirming his reservation for 8/29/14, (the next day), he called and told the woman who answered that he got a call confirming his reservation for the 29th when it... We went to sunset beach for lunch today. The roadside location was noisy, parking impossible, parking attendant inhospitable beyond belief and we were quite frankly appalled by the behavior of the service staff. The place was half empty but we had to beg for a table, when we were finally seated the way we were spoken to by our waiter... More

I must say that Sunday afternoon and evening at Sunset Beach by the fire pit was an extraordinary experience. Drinks where priced accordingly to my believe. The atmosphere was fun, sultry and full of energy. Unfortunately the quality of service is very poor and for those prices in the menu we really expected a much more interesting and full filling... Loved the view. Loved the gift shop. Room was sparse yet has a cool type of decor. Bathroom was old tile and hardware motel style. Could barely fit one person in there. No shower cap, no lock on the bathroom door. Sink is outside the bathroom and don't expect to be able to get dressed in the bathroom it's way... More

This place was awful, really don't waste your money here, was ridiculously expensive, i have no problem in paying alot of money for something but you may as well chuck it down the toilet here. The front desk staff were lovely and very accommodating but that was the only highlight, wait staff are useless, the guy at dinner was a... More

We have stayed at sunset beach for years ( 6) and always loved it. The service was not fantastic but the setting and fun restaurant ,great gift shop and the beach made up for most of it. This time the attitude was horrible it felt like there was no management around. Things did not feel clean when we asked for... More
