My fiancee booked a room at The New York House for our anniversary and I was so happy and impressed with his choice. The privacy was perfect and our room was incredibly comfortable, which was just what we needed after a long day of photographing upstate New York, and the beauty of the area. The hotel itself is truly lovely,... More

We had an overnight weekend stay in Sharon Springs, and had our dogs with us. This B&B has one room designated as pet-friendly, and it was available, so we made the reservation. The rate was $225 + $25 pet charge, which was comparable to other better lodgings nearby. The good thing is the hosts Bruce and Kelly were warm and... More

We were also greeted with an envelope on the door. Nobody else in the hotel except one other guest.Never saw the person. Another envelope on the door for another guest who never arrived. So whoever wanted would've gotten the instructions for opening the lock. Musty, smelly, hasn't been properly cleaned or dusted in I'd guess months. The neighborhood is frightening... More

Sharon Springs is a quaint , historic village in upstate NY that used to be home to at least a thousand rooms that were rented by the rich and famous from NY City. That was in the mid-1800's. Currently we are in a resurgance and renovation with many new businesses and visitors to our great little community. This does mean... More

This place needs a friend! It is old, dark, cluttered and smelly. We were greeted mid afternoon by...an enveloppe scotch taped to the front door telling us to phone Kelly if necessary but there is no phone. Everything needs an uplift in here. The scones may be good, ok, but they are served in a room hard to describe: it... More

Let's start with the good stuff. Kelly and Bruce seem like great people. Genuine and friendly. Kelly's breakfast was one of the best I've had in a long time. The quiche was sublime, as were the freshly baked scones. But otherwise the proprietors have checked out of their own inn. Literally. They don't live there anymore, and while five of... More

This is a lovely old house full of interesting antiques. Highlight is the large front porch complete with rocking chairs! Our room was small but cozy. Bathroom was small and the shower fixtures were marginal. A lot of dust in the corners and along the floor boards - more than I would expect for the over $200 cost per night!... More

First of all, let me say that Sharon Springs is a community struggling to rise from the depths of decay and abandonment. I had been through there years ago, and the derelict hotels with curtains blowing from broken windows and the overgrown properties fascinated me like ghosts of a prior age. Now we had a chance to go back and... More

Across street from abandoned property, musty smelling, creepy decor. My companion checked the shower immediately upon entering the room -- thoughts of Bates Motel! Black velvet bedspread. A million miles from civilization. If this is your thing, go for it!

This is a very nice and comfortable place to stay right off Route 20 in the New York Cherry Valley area. The hosts, Kelly and Bruce are very helpful and serve a very nice breakfast. I would recommend this B&B.
