The room was more or less clean (bathroom not so much). The service was terrible. When we reached we were told we had to pay more than the cost we made reservations for, they claimed we hadn't made reservations for our entire party and charged us more, then told us we had to pay even more for a non-smoking room... more

I'll admit it, if I had checked the reviews on this page first, I probably would not have stayed here. However, it really wasn't that bad. The neighborhood wasn't that awful, less then half a mile from the center of the city. The room was clean, if a little small, but what do you expect from a basic Econo Lodge.... more

I went to Schenectady for two days this week and booked this hotel online without looking at it much. Once I got off the train and saw a nice downtown area, I figured the hotel would be in a nice part of town. It is on the same street as the downtown (State Street). Once you pass Nott Terrace, it... more

We stayed at the Econolodge Schenectady in July 2007. Choose other accommodation, even if you are just staying one night. Our room was large and clean but had seen a lot of guests. The bathroom was clean but old. Families were living in the other rooms. The Econolodge is situated near the bad run down part of the town with... more

This was an inexpensive night in an older, but clean motel located in a "low rent" district a few blocks from a rehabbed downtown shopping district. No hook for clothes or sink stopper in the bath, minimum number of towels, parking okay for passenger cars, but cars with trailers and trucks bigger than a pickup would have to park on... more

For a town with a wrecked economy and acres of abandoned houses, Schenectady isn't actually all that cheap a place to stay. This Econo Lodge is inexpensive and very clean -- much cleaner than I expected for the price and location. The staff were friendly and helpful. The neighborhood would seem a little sketchy in some other towns, but for... more

My wife and I booked a room at this motel over the internet. The information stated that there were some renovations going on with minimal inconvenience to guests. The parking lot was virtually unusable due to the dumpsters and workers. The room was dumpy, the bathroom mildewy, and the atmosphere in that part of town scary. Needless to say, we... more

I stopped overnight in Schenectady on my way from Montreal to Maine. I found this motel very clean and the manager friendly. I didn't hear any noise from other rooms. It seemed like it was in an okay part of town (although when I was there it was Sunday night and very quiet - there was only one convenience store... more

Just came back from a weekend getaway to Saratoga Springs -- about 2+ hours drive from where we live. We arrived in the late afternoon on Saturday and headed straight for dinner at Haweli. Wonderful Indian food!!! After dinner, we connected up with friends at the Ben & Jerry's Scoopshop and did some walking through downtown. The scene was crazy,... more

Hotel shows its age. Pleasant, but barefoot desk help. Noisy, marginally safe part of town from appearances and nightime activity. I have just about gotten to the point that I will skip the Econolodges in the future. You can't count on the quality and the brand/price ratio is not buying you anything anymore it seems, more
