The Batcheller Mansion is a historic wonder, which does not show any signs of unnecessary or insensitive 'modernization' that would compromise the integrity of its design and layout. Woodwork and built-ins are mostly original and simply stunning. Furnishings, some of which belonged to the family that built the place, are splendid examples of pieces crafted for the grand residences of... More

The Batcheller Mansion is, architecturally, a late 19th Century curiosity -- part Victorian, part Moorish -- that has been marvelously restored. Step inside and you are transported back 100 years. A very comfortable B&B, with excellent staff (shout-outs to Chelsea, Nicky and Alice), breakfasts that ready you for the day, and bedrooms that are comfortable and quiet. Just a few... More

Staying at the Batcheller Mansion Inn was a perfect part of enjoying historic Saratoga Springs. You will be completely immersed in the Victorian era of long ago making the whole visit to this charming town almost like entering a time machine. Spend the extra money on one of the larger rooms and be sure to enjoy the porches (two) morning... More

We spent 2 nights at the Batcheller Mansion Inn for my daughters wedding. We had the entire mansion reserved for family, and we were treated like family. The staff was wonderful, friendly and so helpful. The home itsself is beautiful and you feel like you have gone back in time. Beautifully and historically decorated and yet comfortable and welcoming. I was in Saratoga Springs for a meeting, but I felt like I was on vacation because I stayed in the lovely historic Batcheller Mansion Inn. The Inn was conveniently located, the owners accommodating and friendly, the grounds beautiful and the room so comfortable and nice.

I put off booking a room @ the Holiday Inn across Circular St. too long for a conference June 4-6 2014. Several other nearby properties were also sold out or their available rooms were prohibitivly expensive. Google Maps pointed to the Batcheller Mansion Inn, which took me to their website, which had pictures of all the guest rooms. After noting... More

My husband, son, daughter in-law and I stayed at the historic Batcheller Mansion Inn on April 26, 2014. We were attending a party in nearby Ballston Spa. I had called ahead to the Inn to see if it was possible to check in a couple of hours earlier, so we could then get to the surprise party before the guest... More

We had our wedding at the Batcheller Mansion on May 24, 2014. We rented the mansion for the weekend for us and our family and it was fantastic. The breakfast was delicious, the rooms are so different and beautiful and the overall stay was amazing. The staff at the Mansion are attentive and extremely helpful. The Batcheller Mansion truly makes... More

Although we booked our stay at the last minute, our room was beautiful, immaculate and comfortable. We were on the third floor and I didn't notice any way up but the stairs, so accessibility could be an issue. Otherwise, we entered to another guest playing the baby grand in the living room. The original woodwork is breathtaking and the decor... More

Beautiful historic mansion, well located in Saratoga next to the park and in easy walking distance to downtown. Large personalized breakfast (hot and cold), charming and attentive service. Only slight downside was the very slow wifi. Overall a very good value.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located in the heart of downtown Saratoga Springs on historic Congress Park, this magnificent inn represents old world sophisticated elegance with a new world attitude. One of America's great Victorian houses, the Batcheller Mansion Inn simply cannot compare to other Saratoga Inns. Built in 1873, this American architectural masterpiece is an elegant mixture of small hotel and living history museum with the intimate feel of a bed and breakfast. Intricately carved European woodwork, hand carved marble fireplaces, family relics on loan from museums, original 1800's Batcheller family furnishings, and spellbinding grandeur make this one of a kind Saratoga inn and living history museum a stately retreat. Throughout the past 137 years, some of Saratoga's grandest parties were staged here, hosting U.S. Presidents, European Royalty, Dignitaries and Hollywood Celebrities. Designed by Nicols and Halcott of Albany, NY in 1873, this High Victorian Gothic mansion exhibits influences from the French Renaissance, Italian, and Egyptian styles. The red and gray slate mansard roof is bifurcated by dormers, each accented by a huge clamshell arch. The ivory stucco facade is studded by a myriad of ornate bays and its conical tower, resembling a minaret, is right out of Arabian nights. That bit of exotica was the result of original owner George S. Batcheller. This Saratoga inn was selected as Inn of the Month in the April 1999 issue of Country Inns. The mansion has also been the subject of many architectural studies, and has been featured in many books and film throughout its history. The Batcheller Mansion was specifically cited as an inspiration by Kevin Cummings, Development Manager for Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort. ... more   less
