The American hotel is located in the downtown area of town and hars the old world charm as when it was built. Friendly bartender who knew all the locals and specials. A lovely couple of hours spent here. .

Dining at the American hotel is a wonderful treat. Yesterday, we were pleased to be in attendance at a private party ( my son's wedding reception ). I know that they did not outdo themselves. Rather they hold themselves to their own exacting standards. The food was as expected, incredibly well prepared and equally well presented. The hotel itself has... More

Stopped for lunch last week and was overall very satisfied with menu', food, and service. Started with a squash soup with bacon that was outstanding! Creamy and flavorful with just the right amount of spice. Lunch selections were the duck sand which and Cobb salad with bacon, chicken and avocado. Both were well presented and flavorful. A nice California Chardonnay... More

Very beautiful hotel in Sag Harbor, nice location. We went for our anniversary and it was very romantic. Walkable to restaurants and shops, didn't get a chance to eat there since I wasn't that interested in the menu. Staff was friendly, L'Occitane toiletries were great touch, a very nice traditional hotel.

We stopped by for lunch today - I'm always wary when the waiter takes your order from memory, however it was an easy order - Lobster BLT without the lobster and a Cheeseburger. The order arrived minus the cheese and charged in full for the Lobster BLT! However it was a lovely lunch in an iconic building!

Historic hotel with a great porch for people watching. Think bed and breakfast for the accommodations. If you do not like quaint and old style decor, move over to the sleek and stylish Barons Cove which is newly renovated.

Ok, their lobster BTL seriously is AMAZING!!! Love coming here and getting prime real estate on their porch for lunch and dinner. Their staff is by far the BEST and most attentive in the entire Hamptons! We've never had a bad meal here and can't believe how reasonable their prices are for both food and wine selection for what you... More

We didn't know what the weather would do on this sultry late July day on Long Island, so my daughter, son in law and I decided to take a little drive out to the Hamptons. After making a short stop in Southhampton we continued on to Sag Harbor and lunch at the American Hotel. We called ahead for a reservation... More

Rustic, quaint, old-style decor, no tv, nice brunch, great wine selection. A quiet place except on Friday and Saturday nights when the bar and restaurant are plagued by the monied crowd. No better place to stay in the town, its steps away from everything Sag Harbor has to offer. However, the hotel cannot accommodate older patrons who have trouble with... More
