When I told local friends I was staying at the Strathallan, they all made remarks indicating I must be wealthy to be staying at such a chic place. Well, the Strathallan is well past its golden era. The first several years it was open, the reputation was great. I stayed there one night in 2004, and found a very tired... more

Front desk staff was friendly on arrival; had no problems on check-in. I was pleasantly surprised with the room - I got a one-bedroom suite, and the rate was comparable with area hotels (no other rooms available, and it was only $10 more). The room was spacious and clean. I never got to use the kitchenette, but that's one area... more

I stayed there with a group so I did not choose this hotel and would never stay here again. I would prefer to sleep in my car! Understaffed at front desk even when they knew that we had a large group staying and the East Ave festival was going on. They made every person staying in the room(4 woman) give... more

Overall it's not a terrible hotel, but so many things went wrong on my stay I just can't recommend it. I had to change rooms 3 times in one night due to lack of hot water and noise. There was a football team staying there at the same time, so it was a nonstop party with ultra-thin floors. However, the... more

I used to stay here in the late 1980's and it looked old and tired then. They've given the lobby a bit of a facelift, but....the website gives the impression that the rooms have been updated. They still look the same as in 1986. The website also mentions a "state of the art fitness center." It's a crappy room with... more

We were in town for a wedding. All in all we had a nice time. We ended up getting in the wedding block even though we were told it was full. When I booked the reservation a month in advance I was advised of the room rate. When we arrived I immediatly advised the front desk when checking in that... more

We booked a room recently and were told there was a renovated room available. We jumped at this chance, since earlier in the year we had stayed in a non-renovated room and it was a dump. We were NOT informed that the remainder of the hotel was still being renovated, including the other rooms on our floor. There was banging... more

We stayed here over Labor Day weekend. The website gives the false impression that the hotel has been recently renovated. Couldn't be further from the truth. THIS HOTEL IS DISGUSTING. The rooms are dirty- stains on the ceilings, filthy rug; old food on air conditioning unit. I would rather sleep in a public park more

The surprised started with the elevator, which was falling apart. My first room had this very bad smell of cigarettes so I had to ask for another one. At the front desk, another lady was doing the same because the air conditioned in her room wasn't working and I learned during breakfast that pretty much everybody else had issues with... more

I booked a suite (it cost only $10 more per night than a room) in this hotel because it was the closest hotel or motel to our weekend destination in Rochester. Only after I booked the suite did I remember to check the reviews on Tripadvisor. When I did check, I was horrified by all of the lousy reviews I... more
