Very comfortable and unique home with many interesting features. Easy access to the areas of interest. Beautiful grounds as well. The breakfast made to order included endless coffee-soooo nice. Very interesting bird activity!

Needed 2 nights after long drives(first NH to Rochester then to Niagra Falls). Now we're glad hotels were booked, never would have discovered this place! Secluded on a hill in quiet location of city, immaculately clean comfortable accommodations with an ambience of a more peaceful life. Owners(& bird) were very friendly & let us relax in their home. Homemade sweets... More

My wife and I were attending a wedding in Rochester that was being held at the Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School. Not only did 428 Mt Vernon offer an extremely close location, but it was in its own wonderful sanctuary of nature/quiet streets. My wife and I were able to get all over Rochester with ease from here despite being... More

428 Mt. Vernon is an amazing, step back in time to a more civilized era. The home is spectacular and beautifully decorated. Our room was comfortable and well appointed. The total restoration of the house means all of the utilities are modern, yet it retains all of its Victorian charm. The park-like grounds are beautiful and private, so you would... More

A lovely grand house in a great setting. The owners were welcoming bit slightly awkward. The first sensation is cigarette smoke. Then the elegant wood work and decent but not quite inviting furnishings in the living room. Sounds from the common areas came right through the room's door. In particular, the family's bird kept me from falling back to sleep.... More

My mother and I were in Rochester to pick up my son from a summer program at the University of Rochester. (My husband and son had stayed here three weeks early and the Men thought it was great! Especially the food!) My mother and I had a wonderful stay also! We stayed in the room with 2 twin beds and... More

My husband and I stayed here for three nights and had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful, furnished with antiques and is three stories high. Our room was on the third floor, which at first had me concerned because I have a problem with stairs. However there's a very nice little elevator! Our hosts were very friendly, although they... What a beautiful bed & breakfast! My stay there was like a dream, I had to pinch myself several times to remind me that I wasn't dreaming. I stayed there for two days, but I wish I could stay there forever. During those two peaceful days I enjoyed delicious breakfasts, a comfortable bed, a cozy room overlooking a park, the... More
