Indications were that this was a brand new place. Indeed, when we arrived, everything looked sparkling. The staff confirmed that this Hampton had opened just a few weeks earlier and they had the enthusiasm of new employees who are still excited about their job. However their performance was a bit lacking. Our request for a quiet room wasn't quite fulfilled and the alternative wasn't much better, being near the elevator instead of away from it. Our annoyance could have been avoided if only they'd let us look at a room map so we could see where on the floor the room was, but they didn't have one and couldn't turn the computer screen towards us. But in the end it didn't matter as the room we settled for was very quiet anyway.

I said it looked sparkling new. Well, I don't know how long that will last. There were some small bits of paper on the floor of the elevator when we arrived that were still there when we left three days later. And it doesn't look as if the hallways... more
