We stayed at GDI while attending a healing retreat at nearby Omega Institute. We got lost coming down from VT, but Harold talked us patiently in through the last 20 miles like an ATC. Our room was spacious, spotless, and beautifully appointed with items from the Victorian Age (the inn was built in 1874). In ten minutes, we felt as... More

My friend and I were delighted to find this beautiful Victorian home in the heart of the inviting village of Red Hook, NY. Beth welcomed us warmly and showed us to our third floor rooms where we had separate quarters but shared a bathroom. She was very helpful in suggesting nearby places for supper and we were able to walk... More

As far as B&B's go, this is right up there with charm and authenticity. Each room is well decorated in period pieces, lots of charm and very high quality trimmings. Beds and sheets are great, bathrooms are in good share (given the age of the property, they have done the best they could), and the three-story structure has a wonderful... More

Your personal attack on me was not very nice. I find it strange that I am in the title of your review. Not only did my room not have an air conditioner, but the people across the hall from us, did not either. If you look at the date of my review, it is well before yours. Perhaps since I... More

My wife and I spent the July 4th weekend at the Grand Dutchess and had a delightful time. The Inn was cozy and comfortable, the Carol Suite was well-appointed and spacious, and the Inn-keepers (Harold and Beth) were two very friendly and helpful people. The breakfast was delicious (Gluten free alternatives available) and the location was perfect for all the... More

This was our first stay in a Bed and Breakfast and we loved it. The room was charming, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had all the modern amenities while still having the old world charm. Our room had an air conditioner but we didn't need it, large windows and a ceiling fan kept us very comfortable. Little... More

We came up to see if Bard College was a good fit for our son. Beth and Harold were delightful! Our stay was very comfortable and they graciously accommodated dietary preferences, We enjoyed having breakfast with other Bard perspectives and students and exploring Bard and Red Hook. Our son has decided to attend Bard, so we will certainly be back!... More

We stayed for one night while visiting our son at Bard. We arrived earlier than expected and Beth was so accommodating. The house was beautiful, and I loved the interesting things the owners have collected over the years. It doesn't look like a Victorian museum like some B&Bs, and I prefer it that way. It feels more like a home,... More

Connie S. wrote "Our room had no air conditioner" and she stated that she stayed on June 21st of this year. I know for a fact that every guest room at The Grand Dutchess gets an air conditioner put in during the month of May. She also clearly does not understand how much time and money it requires to maintain... More

Our stay at the Grand Dutchess totaled 9 days, over 11 days. It was our best B &B stay EVER! The Grand Dutchess is one fine lady! Everything, the staff, the rooms, the breakfasts, the location, was great. I've read all of the reviews posted and can only conclude that the negative ones were totally unfounded. I can only assume... More
