My wife and I spent the July 4th weekend at the Grand Dutchess and had a delightful time. The Inn was cozy and comfortable, the Carol Suite was well-appointed and spacious, and the Inn-keepers (Harold and Beth) were two very friendly and helpful people. The breakfast was delicious (Gluten free alternatives available) and the location was perfect for all the... More

This was our first stay in a Bed and Breakfast and we loved it. The room was charming, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had all the modern amenities while still having the old world charm. Our room had an air conditioner but we didn't need it, large windows and a ceiling fan kept us very comfortable. Little... More

We came up to see if Bard College was a good fit for our son. Beth and Harold were delightful! Our stay was very comfortable and they graciously accommodated dietary preferences, We enjoyed having breakfast with other Bard perspectives and students and exploring Bard and Red Hook. Our son has decided to attend Bard, so we will certainly be back!... More

We stayed for one night while visiting our son at Bard. We arrived earlier than expected and Beth was so accommodating. The house was beautiful, and I loved the interesting things the owners have collected over the years. It doesn't look like a Victorian museum like some B&Bs, and I prefer it that way. It feels more like a home,... More

Connie S. wrote "Our room had no air conditioner" and she stated that she stayed on June 21st of this year. I know for a fact that every guest room at The Grand Dutchess gets an air conditioner put in during the month of May. She also clearly does not understand how much time and money it requires to maintain... More

Our stay at the Grand Dutchess totaled 9 days, over 11 days. It was our best B &B stay EVER! The Grand Dutchess is one fine lady! Everything, the staff, the rooms, the breakfasts, the location, was great. I've read all of the reviews posted and can only conclude that the negative ones were totally unfounded. I can only assume... More

We spent a lovely weekend at The Grand Dutchess. We stayed in Carol's Suite on the third floor. It was spotlessly clean, with an A/C and ceiling fan. The innkeeper, Gemma, couldn't have been more accommodating and she is a wonderful cook. The B&B is unpretentious and cozy, quiet and private. I was concerned when I read some of the... More

I will begin with the positives. The owner is very anxious to please and helpful. The inside of the Inn Is very clean, there is ample parking, and the location is great. It is an easy walk into the village and to the shops and restaurants. However, the Inn itself, is shabby and needs a lot of repairs. The wide... More

The Grand Dutchess was a grand disappointment. This Inn needs a good cleaning, paint job, and repair. When we walked up on the porch there was broken wicker furniture and a dirty kitchen broom. When we entered the Inn we were appalled by the clutter of knick knacks and junk piled everywhere. We often stay at Victorian Inns and know... More

I can't commend the innkeepers at the Grand Dutchess highly enough. I came down with a stomach bug during my stay. I was traveling alone and they really took care of me, bringing me chicken stock, rice and bananas throughout the day and evening. Even before I became ill, I found them very accommodating with my diet preferences, late arrival... More
