Quite an experience overall. First, our reservation was confirmed by email but when we arrived there was no room reserved for us on that night. I should say that all the staff we met were very apologetic and wanted to help but it was still a bad situation for us. We were given the option of taking two semi-private rooms... More

We stayed here recently in order to be able to walk to a Vassar event. We arrived after 4:30 pm on a Saturday night so we had to pick up our keys in Main Building at VC. Not a huge problem, but if you are taking the train/taxi to campus, you may need to plan on walking the 5-8 minute... More

You want to visit your college student at Vassar. The Alumnae House is right across the street, promises bed and breakfast, and convenience. What could be bad, you think? So you book a room with a king-sized bed for two ($145/night, plus $20/night for the extra person in the room). It'll be like staying with family. The first surprise comes... More

Nice hotel if you're visiting Vassar. Can walk to the school and the restaurants nearby. Clean and and large room that 3 of us stayed in. Breakfast was excellent at Babycakes Cafe. Felt like we were staying in a mansion from a time past.

It's a little known fact that visitors to Vassar (not just alumnae) are eligible to stay at this lovely old inn. It is a 5 minute walk to the two restaurants included for breakfast (we had a fine breakfast at Babycakes). Rooms are large and ours had a private bath. Elevator to the floor. Free hot chocolate, tea, coffee available... More

The room I was given was large and comfortable. The staff was very nice and made me feel quite at home. I loved the vintage Vassar artwork too. It was easy parking, and I had great breakfast at Babycakes.

I was very happy to stay in a single room with shared bath while my daughter was visiting Vassar as a prospective student. The experience really suited me. The house is beautiful, and the libraries, sitting rooms and even my small room were just like an elite women's college from years ago. The paintings, the antiques and even the books... More

Breakfast not being readily available is a bit of a pain, I'm used to staying in name brand hotels where you receive all the comfort and cleanliness that is expected during a stay away from home. A bit of advice, clean the shower, mold is not a good look, being I am part of a hotel management team, I may... More

We stay at Alumnae house each winter, often on the way to or from somewhere further north, although we have also used it as a base to drop into the city for a day. We love this place. Lots of great little places to read (a library straight out of Oxford, a beautiful great room, and of course the cozy... More

We had a large room with a comfortable king bed, crib, and love seat. The room was decorated with an eclectic mix of antique furniture. It was all in nice shape. This was not a fancy hotel, but very comfortable and clean. The building was very cool, and definitely felt like you were staying in an old college building, lots... More
