Maybe the State Park has major funding issues, and if so it's very sad, because the site is pretty exceptional on Lake Champlain. Yes, there are marshes and mosquitoes, yes some sites are incredibly small and others lack privacy, but the lake is wonderful and the environment is great. The problem is maintenance which is really minimal. Some of the... More

If you are lucky enough to get a site ON the lake you will be VERY happy. If not.......bring a lot of bug repellent ! The interior of this campsite is very swampy and. unless you own a thermocell I would NOT recommend it. However it is quite the antithesis if you can get a spot out of there !... More

This is a state park run facility so it's very clean. The campground is also very woodsy so most of the sites are private. However most of the inner sites are smaller and surrounded by swampy areas but bugs didn't seem to be too bad when we stayed. The best sites are in the back on the river bank and... More

The land is beautiful! However, it is very buggy. I camp a lot and never complain about the bugs but this was excessive. We stayed there so we could hike some of the high peaks. It was a convenient area to stay for this. Close to the mountain. Also a lot of amenities nearby.

if you have a canadian family or are ancient party poopers, this is the campsite for you! most of the sites are surrounded by swamps or families with screaming children. nice beach, but you cant make noise on it. We had problems with the caretaker, he was very unprofessional, and super rude when we asked for a refund. We left... More

My friends and I got two sites for my friends birthday. One of our friends came on a licensed four-wheeler, and the man working the gate said it was fine. He allowed it on the property. We were told after nine pm that there were only two cars allowed per site. We abided to these rules and moved our cars... More

The campside itself was average. The size was good but the surrounding was like a marsh. Mosquitoes came out at night and the frogs made a lot of noise the whole night. The toilets were OK. The showers were badly located. They were all the way at the entrance of the park so you needed to have a long walk... More

We visited this July the campground for an overnight visit. We had planned 2 nights but decided to leave the next day. Although the actual sites themselves were very good (we had a location beside the running water, somewhat private). Nighttime proved complicated to sleep (too many dogs, people chatting till all hours without anyone telling them to stop). Daytime... More

Ausable Point is typical for state campgrounds. The location is gorgeous, the sites are huge but services could be better. We were lucky to get a site in the 70 loop. We understood why on arrival, it is the furthest from the beach. Sites are huge with mature trees(pines, oak, etc) so you have a pretty good view and hearing... More

We decided to go to Ausable for a brief camping trip after the 4th of July. We checked in and my sister, brother-n-law and my cousin's family camped with us as well. We were pleased with sites 120 & 121 as for the privacy and the large lot size of each site. Once the eveing came we decided to have... More
