This campground has nice, clean, non-electric sites. It is on a lake where you can use non-motored boats. You can bring your own, or they have rentals. There is also a small beach (not open yet when we were there). Bathrooms were decent, at least on loop E.

Stayed in loop D. Waterside. There's a good little hillside you need to climb down to put in your canoe or kayak but it's not impossible. Good sized sites. No showers in D loop but plenty elsewhere. Ice available. One bathroom per loop. Firewood easy to get between the village and Bisby Rd.

Stayed here 2 nights to check out paddlefest. Nicely maintained, with an extremely friendly and helpful staff, the lake is clean, scenic and motorless. There is a spacious swimming beach / picnic area / playground / canoe rental and the sites are reasonably spaced and nicely wooded. Hiking trails interconnect with others in the area. Lots of amenities in Old... More

My husband and I decided for our honeymoon we would camp throughout the adirondacks. We started in the northern region and worked our way down staying at different places for 3-4 nights at a time. On our way home driving through Old Forge we decided to stay one more night at Nicks Lake. Or 19 foot travel trailer fit nicely... More

We spent a recent (mid Sept 2014) Friday to Sunday here and it was great. I had read that loop E was the nicest but it was full except for a tiny spot with not much privacy so we opted for B loop, site 30. That site was very large, private, and there was only one other camper in the... More

My son (9 years old) and I stayed here this past week for 3 nights. We are novices, and I have to say that NLC gave us a great experience. The campsites are well-spaced, so although you can see your neighbors, there is some privacy. For those looking for a nice, big campfire, call and ask the ranger if the... More

This DEC campground is soo clean it is wonderful! Lots of trails to hike and paved pathways for bikers/runners/rollerbladers etc. The lake is only for canoes, swimmers, kayaks etc. No motorized boats, which is very peaceful. Very close to town , so makes it easy to get ice and firewood. Been camping here for 4 years now, no issues. 2... More

Our family has camped in several New York and Vermont State campgrounds, and this is definitely one of our least favorite. The camping spots are all unlevel, small, and not raked. There is no soap in any of the bathrooms, the bathrooms near the beach are disgusting and smell terrible, the swimming area is restricted & tiny and only open... More

We came to Nicks lake for a day trip in the fall and saw the waterfront sites. Knew we had to come back! We went on the site in October and all the sites we wanted were gone but we got Loop c site 45. On the water but up a path. We were able to haul kayaks down path... More

This campground is always a family favorite. We camp here at least twice a year. The campground is close to Moose River where we love to kayak. You can also kayak the lake right at the campground. I love to hear the loons and watch the sunset on the beach. The hike around the lake is also amazing.
