I would call it "The Most Magical Place on Earth"-but I believe that phrase belongs to a much bigger franchise. Inexpensive, it is not, and I would love to hear of a place on Fire Island that is! (Short season, high overhead-good luck!) As a matter of fact - Montauk, Lake George, Myrtle Beach, Ocean City? Cheap-I think not! Fire... more

i must say i strongly disagree with all of these negative comments about this hotel. i have stayed here over a dozen times with my family, friends, and extended family and we find it to be a great enviornment! the atmosphere is beach living....living is easy, laid back, and let me say it again....on the beach. as far as bugs... more

Firstly, I called in to make my reservation, which the hotel had no record of when I arrived. However, since it was off-season, they still had the same room available. What a catastrophe!! For 272 bucks, my girlfriend and I got to enjoy 1) a portrait on the wall that was falling apart with a dead, dried up bug inside... more

This was by far, the worst hotel I have ever stayed in!! I don’t even know where to start. Let’s start with the good – nice view. As for the room, small, dirty, musty, and old. The only nice thing about the room was the air conditioning. There is not even a phone to call the front desk. We had... more

This has to have been the most overpriced flea-bag I have ever stayed in. First of all, stay away from Ocean Bay Park unless you are a college kid looking to drink heavily 24/7 - then this place is perfect for you. The pros: It was close to the beach and the guy who help us with our bags was... more

Not only was staying at this hotel the worst vacation I've ever had, it's one of the worst experiences I've ever had in my life. Literally, I will have nightmares about this place for years to come. I don't know how many showers, trips to the laundry or doctor's visits it will take to feel normal again. ACCOMMODATIONS: The place... more

Despite the negative review of the hotel, it must be said that we went to Fire Island Hotel as 6 non-romantically involved friends and had a blast. We had a blast because we didn't spend much time at the hotel itself thanks to a perfect weather weekend and we were able to drink heavily in order to fall asleep on... more

Stayed at the Fire Island Hotel and Resort the past weakend. It was a horrible property. The rooms were dirty, customer service was horrible. The room had cockroaches and ants. The bathrooms were smelling of urine. I will not recomend any one to ever stay at this location. The location of the property is great. Great property with cockroaches!!! more

My friend I stayed there this past weekend. We woke up Monday morning covered with a thousand bites. I happened to see a very strange bug on the mattress later that morning which I believe was a bed bug. I went to see my doctor the following day and she said my bites look like they are from bed bugs.... more
