We stayed at the lodge first week of August 2014. We came to the Adirondacks again , being familiar with Lake Placid area in the Fall and Winter , to find a week of kids free-stress free, rewind the springs that me and my sweet half needed. We stayed at the main lodge and really enjoyed our week. The lodge... More

We stay at Garnet Hill Lodge every year for a few days at the end of July, and noticed a great improvement this year under the new ownership. The food is excellent at the included breakfast, and also one night when we had dinner at the Lodge. Guest appreciate that Garnet Hill Lodge is a unique, rustic retreat, and do... More

We planned on staying here for a day on our way back to St. Louis from an extended road trip through Canada and Vermont. I chose Garnet Hill Lodge based on the promise of its Tripadvisor reviews, and am so pleased I did. The lodge itself is a beautifully maintained trip back in time to the 1930's, and the view... More

We booked a Saturday evening with friends at the lodge. We have two kids, a girl age 6 and boy age 8. They have three boys. What I really appreciate is that although you cannot check in until 4, you have use of their property, equipment, etc the entire time you are there. We arrived around noon on Saturday and... More

My husband and I joined our friends for a stay recently at Garnet Hill Lodge. Upon check-in we were informed that we had been upgraded to a room with a balcony. It was well worth the upgrade! Our balcony had a beautiful view of the nearby mountains and 13th Lake. At night we could hear the loons calling back and... More

My family came for the special Mother's Day menu and even before entering, we were impressed by the beautiful view of Thirteenth Lake. We also noticed the entrances to cross country ski trails of which we found are numerous. The inside of the comfortable and cozy lodge is what you would expect in the Adirondacks and we imagined sitting around... More

Just spent a blissful 4 days at Garnet Hill. The view from our balcony room alone was worth the drive from Brooklyn. I am SO glad it has great new owners because this place is completely charming. It retains it's 1930's Adirondack feel while being cheerful and bright (& with great wifi). With our teenage son we took full advantage... More

Could not sleep due to loud voices from dining room! Would not recommend this Lodge to anyone planning a quiet ADK get away. The food was enjoyable and the service was good. The view from the Lodge is beautiful.

Dear Brian M, Thank you for your kind words regarding Garnet Hill Lodge despite the unfortunate incident you experienced regarding loud voices and laughter shortly after 10 pm. As I said to you in person, our policy is very clear in our guest information packet, and is emphasized by staff, that quiet time is to be observed after 10 pm.... More

"Another great week at Garnet Hill. With the weather as it was we did real well on the trails. They had been groomed and with a few tips from Ivy at the Ski Shop I did fine out on the trails. I had no problems and I'm 82. At the Lodge they have a great staff and Don and Mindy... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Garnet Hill Lodge is a 4 season lodge and resort in the central Adirondacks. Situated on a gentle hill overlooking pristine Thirteenth Lake, Garnet Hill Lodge offers a storybook Adirondack setting for individuals, couples, and families to escape from the hectic pace of everyday life and surround themselves with the serenity of nature. Our guests can choose to actively engage in hiking, mountain biking, swimming, paddling a kayak/canoe... Or just settle into an Adirondack chair on the expansive front lawn with a good book if preferred. Winter opens up 50k of beautifully groomed cross-country ski trails, countless miles of back-country and snowshoe trails. As well as 15 minutes to downhill skiing at Gore Mountain. Our main Log House Lodge is reminiscent of an Adirondack Great Camp. The original structure was built in 1936 and offers a casual, friendly atmosphere with Bed and Breakfast guest service. Our location provides convenient access to many vacation activities, but best of all, it is a unique opportunity for couples and families to reconnect over wholesome outdoor activities. Our full service restaurant is open to the public and nourishes all our guests with freshly prepared, hearty lodge meals. ... more   less
