Although the hotel is quaint (only 13 rooms I believe), it is on the main highway going into Fira, so the traffic noise is a factor. The view of the caldera (volcano) is great (again the main road is right in front of you), but across the road is a large abandoned cement building which really spoils the view. Only... more

My sister and I stayed at the Astir Thira Hotel for 9 nights and we had a great time. The two sisters Eleftheria and Argyro working in the hotel were absolutely fantastic, they organised car rentals, sightseeing tours, advised us on places to eat and one day they even organised for lunch to be delivered for my sister and I... more

It's a 15-minute drive from the ferry wharf. It is a small (13 rooms) family hotel. Clean and efficiently run. Reception staff very helpful. Breakfast staff a bit indifferent. Serves good standard continental breakfast. Our room was big and clean. No great views from any of the rooms as the hotel is in fallow land. The city centre ( cafes,... more

We just came back from Santorini. We booked Astir Thira over Expedia. However, we found out upon arrival that our reservation was not received by the hotel, and the hotel only had a room for us for two nights out of the 3 nights we booked. But the problem was quickly resolved, and we had been upgraded to another hotel... more

Great hotel! Very close to the centre, and 2 blocks from bus and taxi depot. Has a great swimming pool with lounge chairs, so if you don't want to head to the beach, you can hang out there for a bit. Rooms facing the pool (interior) much nicer than rooms facing the road (a bit noisier). Owners super friendly, family... more

We travelled to Santorini 2nd to 16th Sept and had a wonderful time. We booked Astir Thira directly on internet and had prompt reply. On arrival at airport at 20.45 in the evening, we were picked up by their driver a pleasant gentleman and even though we were about 45 minutes waiting for luggage he still waited for us. We... more

I have just returned from a 5 week trip to Europe and the Hotel Astir Thira in Santorini was the first stop. It was a great place to stay and remains the highlight of my holiday. Beautiful Santorini ! The hotel was new, very clean and well located just out of town. Only a quick walk to the centre of... more

Overall, this hotel is reasonable for the price we paid. Convenient location (only 5 mins walk to center of Fira), friendly staff, excellent cleaning service (the bathtub was so immaculately clean that I almost slipped in the shower!), nice balcony, also we requested pick-up from the port to the hotel and the staff did kindly oblige. However, things we were... more

Found this place after searching through Rick Steeves and comparing with Trip Advisor.com. Although they failed to pick us up at the airport as promised, once we got to the hotel we were pleasantly surprised. The location is great, 5 minute walk into town but far enough away from town that the music from the clubs and restaurants is muffled... more

They overbooked!! After a very long wait at the airport (dont even bother taking a cab because they dont know where it is), the girl from this family-run hotel picks us up & within 20 minutes into the ride does she tell us some story about someone needing to stay one more day & there was no room for us!!... more
