The position of Fira town along the cliff edge of the caldera (Santorini) means that the hotels, restaurants and bars with the best views are terraced, with dozens of steps on many levels – not ideal for the elderly, or those with gammy knees. This was the case with the Kavalari Hotel, pre-booked for us by Fantasy Travel (Athens). Our... More

Arrived at 11pm and darling receptionist was waiting for me with maps, information re: restaurants walking distance from hotel on Santorini...good Bars, tours, costs etc. Bell boy Yanni, carried my case on his head, down the 40 stone steps to my gorgeously golden lit cave apartment. My breath was taken away with the incredible view all around me....the cliff top... More

This is NOT deluxe hotel standard, but if you book a cave room (recommend #29 or #32), then you're in for a treat. The standard rooms are that, standard and not fancy. But the views are amazing and the outdoor terraces (there are a couple with LOT'S of stairs in between) are just beautiful. There are some negative reviews about... More

This hotel sits at the top of the ridge in the center of town overlooking the caldera and ocean. Views are fantastic. Cab and some busses drop you off at the hotel entrance and you walk down 20-30 steps to office. Then rooms are arranged on face of slope. Most rooms have small terraces or access to one nearby. Great... More

So many stairs!!! LOL! If it wasn't for my aching feet from travelling through the island of Santorini, I wouldn't have printed the first part, but their still hurting. Ache!!! This was my first time to the island and to Greece and what an amazing first hotel to stay at. The employees at the front desk were wonderful as well... More

I stayed in Hotel Kavalari from May 18 to 21st, 2014. Pros: Very close to the bus station between airport and Phira village- only 5 minutes away from the bus stop. Location was great as it's in the middle of Phira village. View is amazing and you'll fall in love with this hotel as soon as you arrive. Staffs were... More

On our last night on Crete, we had to decide where to stay 1 night in Fira/Thira on Santorini . Hotel Kavalari seemed to fit what we were looking for. Previous good reviews, breakfast included, good caldera view and close to town center at a reasonable price, 78 E. And we could not have happier with our choice. It was... More

The views of the caldera are stunning--they literally have to put a rope up to keep non-guests from coming in and staring. The sunset was better from this hotel than in Oia. The location in general is also good, an easy walk to shops, restaurants, and the bus station, but still quiet. My room was a single on the bottom... More

The view from entering is amazing, then you get to your room, and it's still awesome! We traveled here in mid-April for our honeymoon and we'd definitely be back. Transportation to/from Airport: They offer you in advance a taxi/shuttle service, but after being in town for a week, I regret paying 22 EUR for our shuttle. The bus is about... More
