Its a 10 minute drive out of Bayeux but a charming place to stay. The host and his cousin are wonderful and made us feel at home. The history and ambiance are wonderful. Thanks for the memories. more

I'd agree with all the good reviews here but I do have a couple of problems. Not deal-breakers, but just problems. 1. Probably because of the time of year, the place had a lot of lazy big black flies about. I could usually shoo most of them out an open window. The problem was apparently caused by the mgt leaving... more

Having read some of the other reviews, we were a little hesitant, but when we got there the experience was simply stunning - a fabulous place, superb grounds. As the hotel was extremely quiet, we were given an upgrade on arrival - and stayed in a fabulous room at a truly astonishing price. The staff were charming, the bed gave... more

My husband and I stayed here for two nights. The service/staff is very personal and so willing to please. Keep in mind it is old, over 200yrs old; which made it even more adventerous for us. We had the jr. suite, no complaints. Very clean. Maybe replace the bedspread? The breakfast was brought to our room at the time we... more

This is the 5th time we stayed at Chateau de Goville , though it has been about 5 years since the last time( as they have been full). It did not disappoint. The owners are great. The place has been in his family for years and he has many family collections out. The decor is truly French and the grounds... more

We stayed at the Chateau de Goville in Dec 2005. During our stay we had heavy snowfall, which although bad news for drivers made our whole experience even more magical. Its true that this place certainly isn't your standard hotel, but we found the beds excellent, and unlike other reviews found the linen and upholstery throughout the house to be... more

We stayed four nights at Chateau Goville, 8km southwest of Bayeaux, with some trepidation after reading earlier maginal or poor reviews. Instead we were pleasantly surprised. None of the shabbiness noted earlier was there; carpets were nice, the place was very clean and the location very central for western Normandy. The morning meal, served in our room, was great. The... more

The best thing I can say about this place was the food was OK (not great but eatable). When we drove up, we noticed that the Chateau was very ill kept and in need of repairs. Upon entering the reception area the manager or owner started a heated disagreement with Katherine (our French guide) which made us feel unwelcome. They... more

Be very careful of this Hotel! I booked three double rooms for two nights initially by telephone and then confirmed the reservation by e-mail. Firstly the rates are higher than anything shown in any of the guides but I accepted this. The stay was to follow the weekend at the Le Mans 24 hour. Knowing the situation at many French... more

While our room could've used some renovation (uneven floors, cracked tiles, etc.), our stay was very nice. The food was excellent and certainly the highlight of the trip. more
