Our stay was perfect. The rooms were all unique, and each one was luxurious. The hotel itself is situated in a renovated, medieval castle. Helene, the owner, assisted our stay in every way possible. The food at both dinner and breakfast were to die for. All of the food was homemade, and the produce was sourced from the surrounding area.... More

We arrived late at Le Roc Sur L'Orbieu and were greeted by Helene who is the owner. The accommodation is in a restored and renovated 1,200 year old medieval castle. The original architectural features and patina are all retained with new features such as air conditioning, ensuite all tastefully added. The decoration is pure french provincial and the view from... Booked one night and stayed 2 because we enjoyed our visit so much. Family of 4 (2 teenagers), had the family suite- 2 bedrooms and stunning views over the valley. This was a real experience in Helene's magnificent home (castle) with superb hospitality, faultless dinners and breakfasts, perfect attention to detail with homewares and decorations. The ambience was unforgettable. The... More

I spent 5 days here and I was so spoiled by great food, wonderful suite of rooms, swimming pool, outstanding views and I was in a castle, from the year 0900. Helene, the most wonderful hostess, has over 25 years converted part of this ruined castle into something of beauty and great interest. Pure linen embroidered sheets, thick white towels,... More

A remarkable place to stay. Helene, the owner, is equally a remarkable lady, goodness knows how she keeps so many plates spinning! Le Roc is a 1000 year old former fortress, converted into a labyrinth of rooms, bedrooms, stairways, steps, landings, courtyards, alley ways, with antiquities crammed into every possible space, including the ceilings! The complete quirkiness however does affect... More

Mme Helene has created an impossibly dreamy place to stay, out of a formerly ruined castle. This bed&breakfast is ridiculously picturesque--but it's completely authentic. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the food is outstanding (breakfasts are included. We also had dinner one evening, which is extra.) and totally fresh and local, and the service is genuinely attentive. Madame and her... More

We are staying at Le Roc for three nights with a group of friends. The experience is really magical and very enjoyable. Helene has created a delightful ambience, restoring an ancient group of buildings with flair and great sensitivity to its age and ambience. Our well appointed and charming room is large with a terrace and magnificent views over the... More

My husband & I spent 4 nights in early August with our 5 year old daughter. I had read previous reviews so was a little prepared for a potential frosty reception of the owner, especially as we had a small child. But, we had a lovely time and found Helene to be very friendly. The breakfast's were lovely, with home... More

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend in August 2014 with a group of 6 other friends to attend a wedding. Saint Pierre des Champs is a small and pretty village and Le Roc Sur L'Orbieu could be an unusual and charming B+B with incredible views, however the hostility towards us from the hostess made these positive points... Hélène C, Propriétaire at Le Roc Sur L'Orbieu, responded to this review

thank you for your long appreciation. Your group of 10 British remained in-itself, but a man who spoke a little French and serving as an intermediary. I can not communicate with people who speak English quickly and misunderstandings certainly just that. I proposed compromise all your requirements, what you reproach me now. The hours of breakfast, room cleaning, arrival and... More

Charming guesthouse in the ruins of a 10th century chateau. The layout is a labyrinth of quaint rooms (I frequently took a wrong turn and found another new nook or cranny!). The bar area runs on the novel notion of an 'honesty box' (sadly we never took advantage of it as we were out exploring)... and the rooms were spacious... More
