After one week of safari and a climb to the summit of Kilimanjaro, we needed to relax! We chose Chapwani Island because of a recommendation from our traveling agent, Tanzania Tours, Denmark - and it was truly an unbelievable experience! The island is isolated away from the noise and stress of busy Stone Town, all you can hear is a... More

Fantastic stay at Chapwani island. Friendly staff members who are helpful. Great swimming and kayaking experiences. We had the out of world experience of seeing beautiful star fish at snake island during low tide. The food served was absolutely amazing and full with flavour. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Very private which was lovely. Thank you!

What a great island! really quiet and nice to relax, read, walking, swimming and doing nothing. Only a few houses and a restaurant. Nice for children who love nature. We had a nice dinner on the beach.

Our daughter and husband were so impressed with the website and we didn't doubt that the $190.00 U.S. per night PER PERSON would be worth it.  Turns out we were terribly wrong. Four of us were booked for three nights but didn't stay even one.  Something has obviously happened to this property since those photos were taken. The location is... More

This is the place to go for peace and quiet. The rooms on the beach are lovely and the staff is excellent. Food is very good, they even come to your deck to take afternoon orders for lunch. It is a very private beach but the water and sand and swimming are phenomenal

We would like to thank the Chapwani Island team for making our stay in the island a truly memorable, wonderful time. We got engaged there and it was simply PERFECT, we couldn't even imaging anything more beautiful and romantic. Extraordinary food, possiblity of kayaking, and seeing little antilopes and...bats:) Idyllic, beautiful place:) Definitely worth visiting!

The location of the hotel on a remote island plays a vital role on the overall experience. You can explore the beautiful beaches and the inland of the island; with the provided Kayaks the sandbanks nearby can be visited at low tide. The quality of dinner varied a bit, breakfast however was great. We refrained from swimming in the saltwater... More

Lovely small hotel consisting of bungalows (each for 2 "numbers") and a big villa very reasonable for big families. The rooms in small bungalows are small and have no air conditioning, which sometimes is a shortcoming, but due to a sea breath for most time is not necessary. All bungalows are situated on a sandy beach. On the opposite, Northern... More

Great to be on a private island, only 30 mins from Zanzibar by boat. Helpful, friendly staff and chilled setting. Most rooms are simple and lovely; but avoid rooms 11 and 12, the 'honeymoon' suites, which are incredibly hot and airless in an ugly modern building. Food is too bland, except when fresh fish/seafood is grilled on the beach, that... More

My husband & I spent 4 days here in December 2013 for our honeymoon. We were blown away by the service, food, staff, activities & the relaxing and private beach. We highly recommend Chapwani to anyone visiting Zanzibar and looking for a more authentic, quiet vacation. We were able to kayak each day, snorkel, visit Stone Town easily with their... More
