We (couple in our 50s) stayed for 3 nights post-safari and pre-Stonetown. This was a perfect small hotel on a beautiful beach. The rooms are spacious (although the steep stairs/ladder to the bed in the loft in our upper-level room might be a problem for some) and we enjoyed having both inside and outside private seating. Very charming beach hotel, in local style, very atmospheric. The best rooms are upstairs ones, especially nb 6 which is their honeymoon suite, very worth it for 95 US; Just don't take one of the new rooms yet (as of summer 2008) as they still smell of concrete. Last review is spot on - except its getting worse... Drains still smell dreadful, there was no hot water at all in one of the buildings and none in ours either the first night. Staff are still sullen, food isn't good - and if it isn't on the limited menu they can't do it [like frying eggs on both sides].... more

I booked 8 nights here due to all the excellent write ups on this site. Unfortunately only stayed 4. This was mainly due to the building work right outside our bedroom window, with deliverys starting as early as 4am and work 6am, not what you want on holiday. Very disappointed with the owners not advising us that this was happening... more
