We have visited the beatiful island of Chumbe and were very excited of the whole place. We had a couple of wonderful days together with other guests and the nice people working in the area. The way of living in one of the ecologicial bungalows was very nice with the open ground area and the romantic bedroom upstairs with the... more

We intended to stay 3 nights at Chumbe after 5 camps on the mainland - a very gruffy ranger introduced us to the site, no questions from our side answered,m either he didn't understand or wouldn't answer our queries. Huts very simple, like someone else said: no winds, bad smells. The worst was the time of snorkelling: only 1 hour/day... more

No words can truly describe the treasure that is Chumbe Island Coral Park! Every single detail from the unbelievable 'bungalows' and visitors centre, to the attentive wonderful staff, delicious food, and most of all the dream like beauty of the reef and island itself makes this a most unique and special holiday destination! I highly reccommend this destination to anyone... more

The wonderful pictures you can see in glossy magazines are true. You live in beautifully designed bungalows overlooking the Indian Ocean. Solutions are simple, but adequat. Friendly helpful service and wonderful cooking. The coralreefs are spectacular though the vision could have been better. In stead of a beachhotel on Zanzibar I would strongly recommend this getaway, just a short boattrip... more

Just returned from a one week stay at Chumbe and had the most relaxing time. Weather was fantistic all be it a bit humid this time of year. Where can i start - the beach - well you will never see an ocean so clean and blue and the coral is mind blowing. The accommodation has to be seen to... more

Chumbe Island is everything that you have heard about, it really is idyllic and the food and accomodation is superb. Unfortunately it is very expensive and you really need 2 days to enjoy the chill out that it offers. If you can afford $250 per person per night then don't hesitate. more

Chumbe Island is a great place to visit and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a day trip for the snorkelling and the island tour. However, I don't think we got our money's worth in the very expensive the overnight stay. Access to Chumbe Island is provided via a small boat that picks visitors up at Mbweni Ruins Hotel. (This hotel... more

We couldn't afford to actually be one of the 14 guests who stay overnight, but were delighted by our experience as day visitors. For $80, you get a fun dhow ride to the island (about 45 min), a briefing of the eco-nature of the island, a bungalow to call your own while you're there (we presume this is standard but... more

After having read all the rave reviews on TripAdvisor, we were very excited to get to Chumbe island. We had just spent a week in the Zambian "bush" in some amazing camps and were expecting a similar level of service and comfort given similar "natural" surroundings... especially given the USD 400 we paid per night as a couple. Arrival on... more
