Having researched the best places to snorkel around Zanzibar, my wife and I stayed on Chumbe Island for two nights. The experience was unforgettable as everything about the hotel and Island was just brilliant. The staff were absolutely great and the food was amazing. We loved it so much we bought a cook book written by the head chef. The... More

After having done a quite stressful safari in Tansania, we reached Chumbe Island for a 5-night-stay and felt at home instantly. The bungalow was very comfortable, clean and private, the food delicious and the whole staff more than obliging and nice! The atmosphere of the island is peaceful and relaxing. Snorkeling was also just overwhelming. We loved never been forced... More

When filling in the feedback form upon check out, none of the 4 of us could think of anything bad to say, or even any comment to help improve the stay at Chumbe island. I am tempted to say it is the kind of place you want to keep secret and untouched, but it already has incredible reviews from hundreds... More

We stayed 3 nights in August and loved every minute. Everything was well organised and we were taken care of very well. The staff were great- attentive helpful, smiling and fun. The accommodation was very comfortable and clean and the food was amazing- thank you to John and the other cooks. This is a beautiful island with amazing snorkeling, scenery... More

We went for our honeymoon and everything was perfect. Everywhere you look is picturesque and the ecotourism is to its finest. We played so much and the staff is incredible and the food is delicious at every meal. LOVE IT and want to go back!

A beautiful small island which is dedicated to marine and land conservation. Charming staff - Eco friendly accommodation...only downside to that being a basic level of amenities (and a very rustic toilet!!!) But charming and unique nonetheless :) Food excellent - snorkel and coconut crabbing recommended

This is simply unlike anything else you will ever do. The accommodation is amazing and really unique, there are set activities each day that you can choose to do or not do, for example snorkelling with professional divers on the coral reef. The snorkelling is also amazing, and i have been snorkelling at the great barrier reef. Although it isn't... More

Our family visited Chumbe after our Safari in Tanzania July, 2014. What a paradise! The small island is such an amazing example of the best that eco-tourism has to offer. Our two teenage boys loved the unique huts, and coconut crabs. My husband and I especially loved the beautiful beach, the tide pools at low-tide, the romantic sunsets. We all... More

we stayed three nights on the Chumbe Island and had a remarkable fine experience. the pick-up on Zanzibar main island was well organized and we were received by extremely friendly and competent staff when we arrived following 45 minutes sail trip. we got the two huts furthest away from the restaurant, very well placed and very close to the beach.... I wished I'd stayed longer than the 2 nights, but the price is slightly prohibitive (I think the other reviewer who talks about $90 was probably a day-tripper). I loved it here, very peaceful and lots of seats and day beds to enjoy the island and views of the ocean. The Eco-bungalows are ingenious with an amazing attention to detail... More
