Our team travels to Maralal each year to work at an orphanage. To say that our time at the Maralal Safari Lodge was "great" would be an understatement. The sheer atmosphere, with zebra, impala and bushbucks, roaming in our mist, was unforgettable. But what makes this such a special place are the big hearts of the owner and staff -... More

Fabulously newly renovated lodge. Wonderful old building surrounded by animals. Camping possible at normal rates. Swimming pool. Friendly and helpful hosts. Great food. Animal rehabilitation. A fabulous new address. Don't miss it in your way up to Lake Turkana

After 5 nights of camping in the north; it was a pleasant surprise to find that Maralal safari lodge was up and running! The rooms were great and cosy; hot showers were a pleasant surprise as well. The bar had such a large variety for all; it was nice to see the local residents of maralal town enjoying themselves! It... More

After a seven-year closure, it's up and running. Love the wooden chalets and the log fire in each. The walks in the sanctuary offer amazing views of Kirisia Hillls. At night or early morning you may see the zorillas (not to be confused with gorilla) and aardvarks. There are good chances of seeing colobus monkeys, genets and leopards. The lodge... More

This is an amazing retreat. Old British colonial style. Very reasonable rates starting from 5000KES per room per night. About 6hrs drive from Nairobi. There are many zebras directly at the restaurant. Free WiFi.

Since paying 800$ for a 4day 'budget'-safari was not an option for us, we started exploring Kenya on our own. And this is how we found this amazing place. Camp (incl hot shower and wifi!) or take a nice cottage at VERY reasonable prices, find yourself in the middle of this National Reserve (no 80$/d National Park, it's FREE!) surrounded... More

It was our great pleasure to have you visit, and both myself and the staff are so very grateful for your wonderful review. I'd really appreciate an email with your suggestions as to what would be your priorities to make the camping better. Our immediate goals include more levelled camping areas, electrical points and a camper's sheltered cooking / BBQ... More

My boyfriend and I came here for the weekend to relax and enjoy the wildlife. The staff were very hospitable and flexible with us. The facilities are the best I have experienced in Kenya so far! We came in the cold season, so they lit a fire in our rooms ever night, the restaurant was available at great hours, and... More

I highly recommend the Maralal Safari Lodge for anyone looking for a peaceful retreat, a place to read or write, a gathering place for a group of friends, or a resting place for people spending time in Samburu after work or play. The setting is beautiful - with wildlife coming to drink from the pond. The staff are so friendly,... More

This place is amazing, I can totally recommend it! Having read that LP says this place is about to fall apart, I still dared to try and see it myself. I only came there for a day trip as I read that the terrace of Safari Lodge is the best spot to view the wildlife living within the Maralal National... More

An amazing and authentic colonial Safari Lodge dating back to the 1920"s which has been completely refurbished with loving care by the new owner Humperdinck Jackman. Although only officially open for the past two months the transformation which had been achieved has been remarkable. One of the main attractions of this lodge is the proximity of the various animals such... More
