A totally different place from wherever I have ever been before, a very well integrated architecture on the waterfront. One can hardly notice the hotel due to the trees and plants. Very environmentally friendly, in some details too much, very difficult to have a decent shower: poor water flow. Average breakfast and a very friendly and affordable Sopa at noon.... More

Beautiful "wild" bed and breakfast with every basic comfort. I spent a week there with my girlfriend. It is full of very nice treks in the area and there is a very very beautiful beach 5 min walking distance from Mar Tranquilidade. David the manager is extremely kind and helpful. The girls doing the kitchen and cleaning work are also... More

What a brilliant place! The Bungalow are beautiful and large, the staff always helpful and the grounds very pretty. The food is as delicious as it is healthy, a lot of fish but always enough options for vegetarians. Since Mai 2015 they have 24/7 electricity and free WiFi as well! Bring some books along the way, there are a couple... More

I stayed in the hotel by chance as the Marlin fishing off San Vicente was so poor. The skipper, Steve George, on Sea Quest, recommended we go to Santo Antao and he booked us in. We were in The Don Paco, on San Vicente and Steve's discription of this hotel was that it was 'rustic'. It is in a different league... More

Pros: - The location. It is very remote and hence extremely relaxing. We forgot date and time - It is basic. There is not a lot of luxury which to us was very positive - Sport opportunities. Trail running, mountaineering, snorkelling, etc - Dinner: The food we had every evening is brilliant and totally unexpected in this place. Thank you... More

I went to Santo Antao to hike and dive with my girlfriend. We didn't plan any accomodation when we got to Tarrafal, and we found this small hotel called Mar Tranquilidad, facing the sea, with this incredible charm that instantly enchanted us! The rooms are very nice, with a sober decoration, and very clean. We were hosted by a french... More

Since my first visit to Cabo Verde when I explored the Eastern side of the island of Santo Antao, I saved Tarrafal for the next visit. I had lots of expectations, all came true - and more. It's not easy to get there from Porto Novo, but if you make it, you will be rewarded, The beach, contrary to the... More

Our stay in Mar Tranquilidade was the highlight of our trip to Santo Antao, and actually all of Cape Verde.  The friendly greeting and generous supply of helpful information from the owners began long before arrival, by email.  Our almost embarrassing number of questions were all answered in a patient and friendly way. Helpful extra information about getting there was... More

We loved this accommodation. The owners Frank and Suzy are very friendly and made us feel welcome straight away. On Cape Verde we had our best meals here ! The beach is stunning and we loved the 2.5 hour drive with the 4wdr from Porto Novo to get there, but you just need to know it is a bit bumpy... More

When you read this review I assume you are pretty much aware of what you can expect in Mar Tranquilidade (based on other user's review or on your travel guide). My girl-friend and I spent 5 days in this place and here is our very subjective opinion. Things we liked: - Delicious food (true for lunch and dinner - breakfast... More
