This property is an odd combination of good and downright odd. The rooms are fine, although one would not expect to see the paint peeling so quickly on what appears to be a new building, and the on-site staff friendly and quick to help. The oddities, however, are more numerous. There was one small ceiling light in a large room,... More

The town of Tarrafal is horrible - squalid and over-run with stray dogs. This small, newer hotel is snuggled in between the Hotel Sol Marina and some other building. The rooms are large; the suites enormous. Only the suites - with an oversized king bed and a single bed - have large balconies (equipped with a round table and four chairs) with views of the nearby mountains. The beach and bay can only... I cannot praise the Cachoeira Hotel staff enough for their hospitality and friendliness! My four friends and I stayed there for five memorable days. I had initially booked a double room but when I saw the view of Monti Graciosa from one of the suite, I knew I wanted to have breakfast on the balcony with that view everyday and... More
