We stayed one night on a white water rafting trip. The motel was close to our rafting and looked good. We were not expecting a 5 star hotel but when we got there, there we no employees to check us into the motel. This was at 4pm. Finally a bartender showed up and gave us keys. There was no hot... The room was comfortable after the space heater was provided by the hotel. Could have been better all around as far as the room but you are there to ski not be in your room. The restaurant had great food, people and drinks. Talked with the owner and there are more improvements on the way…some much needed.

I really wanted to like this place more. The online reservation system and check-in were super easy. No trouble booking a room for three nights during the President's holiday weekend. Proximity to Gore Mountain was great and for $150 per night for two double beds the price was reasonable versus other motels in the area. And then we entered our... More

Great pub and food. Friendly, personable owner and staff. No hills to climb in a snowstorm to park. Reasonable rates. Clean rooms. Comfortable beds. Only problem was the heat. The outside temperature was minus 13 degrees (so it's hard to heat a room with old windows and an uninsulated door). Definitely needs new windows and weather stripping on door. Looks... More

The Good: The bed was pretty comfortable. The Bad:The TV was very small and far away from the bed. They only make the bed (from other reviews I read, I guess I got lucky). They do not vacuum, there were things on the floor when I arrived and still there when I left. They do not pick up the dirty... More

Where to begin....Pluses: near the mountain, can accommodate five people in a room and offer a basic continental breakfast free of charge. Negatives: Room was 62 degrees when we entered. Blasted the heat and it went only up to 68. Somehow, the heat would go back down to 62 duirng the day even though we never changed the temperature. After... More

In the beginning of January we had some heat issues with extremely cold temperatures. The issues only lasted a very short time and were fixed within a couple of days. We apologize for the trouble and hope our customers would give us another try. Please feel free to call me directly and I'm happy to make special arrangements for you.... More

Rustic (read: not the Ritz), but clean rooms/beds close to the mountain, attached to a great pub and great value. Price is right, the staff is friendly/knowledgeable about the area and they treat you like family. Family friendly setup and music in the pub on Saturday nights. I will be back.

The room was very clean. Fixtures were dated and no kleenix in the room. The pub service was excellent owing to the fact that they had 3 parties of at least 6. The food was fresh and hot. Erin and Lindsey were excellent servers. The live music after dinner was a nice surprise so we stayed. I would recommend based... More

i've stayed at the black mountain lodge over a dozen times, most recently via an impromptu layover en route to the high peaks. first and foremost i'd like to thank mark and his staff for their generosity that evening. if you love the ADKs, being out and away, enjoy conversation and great food, the black mountain lodge is the perfect...
