We spent 4 nights here this summer. Pros: We needed 2 ground floor rooms as we had my somewhat disabled mother with us. We were given those. The place felt safe enough. Cons: One room had a strong odor and the other was dirty. We complained and were then told we could be moved but the only available rooms were... more

What a dirty hotel!!!! The first thing that you notice as you walk down the hall way is the smell...very stale. Our first room was filthy. There was black stuff all over the shower floor and there was no kleneex or toilette paper. There were also dirty marks all over the doors. Thankfully they changed our room with no arguement.... more

We stayed at the Howard Johnsons from June 20 to June 22, 2008. Below is my honest review. Im just a regular guy trying to help out any fellow travellers who may pass through. Let's face it, Howard Johnsons is not a world class luxury resort, and for this trip we weren't looking for that; we simply wanted a nice,... more

Having stayed several times at the Days Inn about a mile away, I was willing to try the HoJo, but think I'll go back to the Days Inn. For a little bit less money you get: lumpy pillows, old/smelly rooms, skimpy towels, and noisy heaters (mine DID work, but I only turned it on for short periods). There's also the... more

The place is very run down, and understaffed. All of the staff were clearly unhappy and grim. The hotel was advertised as wi-fi, but it was not working. The view from our room was of an abandoned pool. The bed was comfortable, that's all I can say good about the room. The bathroom was in disrepair. The place is definitely... more

I stayed at the Howard Johnson on two occasions actually...once in August and then more recently in November. I would go to Newburgh because I was dating a man who is now my husband. He is stationed there so I traveled a few times to be with him. This place was fine both times. I made the mistake of assuming... more

The room wasnt terrible, but the fact there was no heat was very uncomfortable, plus the sliding doors didnt close well, so there was a draft, which i tried to cover up placing a table against the wall to stop the draft a bit. Considering this, the blankets were not warm enough. I always carry my blanket so i was... more

When we stayed here years ago the national guard base must not have been active. Now you can hear planes taking off! Also the breakfast was only fair and the room was dated. The restaurant on the property had the worst spaghetti (recommended by the waitress) we ever had. more

We just returned from the wedding of my husband's son in Walden, N.Y. We reserved two double rooms at the Newburgh, N.Y. Howard Johnsons months ago. When we arrived only one room was available.......no problem......we (my husband, step son, step daughter and myself) went out to lunch. When we returned, we were given the card keys to our rooms........which only... more
