My wife and I have been staying at Born Free over Columbus Day, Labor Day and New Years weekends for several years. We generally request a second floor one-bedroom apartment as they are a bit quieter on busy holiday weekends. All of the essentials are supplied by Condo owners. Full equipped wall kitchen. Living room, bedroom and bathroom w/stall shower... more

Call me picky, call me crazy, but this place was horrendous. I had the pleasure of going Labor Day week and shelling out over 2 bills a night. I get that it is expensive that particular week, no matter where you stay, but if you are going to charge that much, you had better at least make sure that the... more

My husband and I stayed here Wed - Sat. for a quick vacation. I wasn't sure about the hotel b/c he booked it on his own & the name is a little funky. But the place exceeded all my expectations & I wouldn't stay elsewhere in Montauk. Born Free is a small hotel about 1/2 block off the beach and... more

We found the room to be clean and quiet. The bedroom had air conditioning but the screens on the windows were old with some holes.. we had to leave air on instead of getting a breeze. The place had everything from coffee maker to pots and dishes! Overall its a great location and very clean, we were happy and would... more

My husband, daughter and myself stayed here while visiting friends in Montauk. We had heard not so good things from people who have stayed here 2 years ago so we were a bit nervous but needed a place to stay. I can honestly tell you that this is possibly one of the best motels I have ever stayed in. It... more

We used to stay at another hotel nearby but when the management there changed we looked elsewhere and were very pleased to book at the Born Free. We have been going there about 6-7 years now and it is by far the best value for the money in Montauk. In fact, we love it so much that sometimes we will... more

My friend had stayed here previosly, so we booked again months and months in advance because it fills up quickly due to its relative price. The power went out our first night and didn't return until our last and since it was booked up (as was everywhere else in Montauk) we stayed there without electricity for the long weekend. It... more

I found the Born Free because they allow dogs for a small daily fee. I've stayed at all different times of the year and have had a wonderful relaxing time. The beach is across the street, the town is around the corner, supermarket down the block. Just perfect. We bbq on the grills, use the picnic table and sit on... more

This really looks like a motel but it is a bunch of small apartments with full kitchens. There are no other amenities, but it is across the street from the beach (Only partial views as there is another hotel across the street), and it is walking distance to one of the main drags in town. It was clean and the... more
