My first time taking a trip to a Yoga Retreat, was definitely relaxing. From the moment the taxi dropped me off in front of the big white main house building where you register, my tensions from a city life began to melt away. The office staff were beyond hospitable, answering all my questions, guiding me to my room and explaining... More

A friend told me about a silent retreat she was going to at this Ashram, I thought it sounded interesting, it was like nothing I had done before, so I decided to tag along. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I expect itineraries and lots of info before going on any planned weekend getaway. They send... More

I grew up on Ananda and have always found it to be a place of refuge ever since. Now living on the West Coast, I still think of the serenity found there and the type of community I found myself in as a young child. Although, I don't go there often anymore, I have lifelong friends found there and when... More

As an avid yoga and meditation practitioner, I was looking for a place not too far from home for some peace & quiet. A place to meet new like-minded people, practice yoga, and eat delicious food. That's exactly what I found at Ananda Ashram! The rooms may be simple, either dorm or semi-private, but they are humble, and what more... More

We came to Ananda Ashram for a spiritual retreat and some relaxation. We live in Manhattan where the pace is unrelenting and fast. Ananda in many ways is like a refuge, the famous Sharanam - one can feel the peace percolating through the pine trees and the buildings. Sanskrit takes one away into an earlier time when people of a... More

I've been practicing yoga and meditation for 25 years and have had the good fortune to travel to ashrams around the world. This ashram is the real thing. Yoga in all of its limbs and levels is taught and practiced by seasoned practitioners Outstanding asanas. Sanksrit classes. Truly transformative.

Spiritual seekers can find India's true, tried depth only an hour outside of New York. Those who are looking for a cheap hotel or a spa should look elsewhere. Ananda is an Ashram - which means first and foremost, a spiritual retreat center. If anyone is on any sort of spiritual path, this means looking deep into your self -... More

There is no place like Ananda Ashram for the silence and peace of true meditation. I love going on yoga vacations all over the world and I live in NYC. I have found Ananda Ashram to be an oasis, only 1 hour from the city, where I can have a true break from ALL noise - visual, mental, aural. As... More

this place is almost awesome, and their intentions overall are good, but they have some work to do to get up to speed. there are no private rooms, and the dorm rooms are over-packed and some have really bad air quality. i heard from another guest as we were leaving that while our room was packed to the gills, 5... This is an amazing oasis for a relaxed, yogic, spiritual and healthy experience. The founder is the author of "Fundamentals of Yoga" and is a world reknowned Sanskrit scholar. The classes are still based in these teachings, the 86 acres are lucious and natural. Each weekend they have different workshops from many different traditions, you can also learn Indian music...
